Not much,

Except the dwarf mason getting trapped inside the monument while building a wall, and his fellow mason WALLING HIM IN.

!!!

Oh and my town liaison apparently got murdered, he was talking to my mayor then I went to look at something else, came back and he was a corpse. Prompted me to make my tomb (which is now 3 floors high, 25 coffins on each floor. The bottom two floors are full, and the next is starting to fill up. Oh the joys of Cloisteredwood.)

The once dark-grey walls are now the dark brown of stained blood. At either side of the path leading to the great granite gates is covered with the corpses and skeletons of Goblin invaders.
Some are still fresh. One is still moving.
As you approach the gate a nervous guard looses a bolt in your direction. Silence... Slowly, gradually, the huge doors screech open. Inside there is a courtyard, the floor wet with blood. Welcome to the front-line. Welcome; to Cloisteredwood.

It was the second year of the fort, and everything was going great.  Farms were set up, a crafts industry was taking off, we'd just discovered the caverns, and then the most disturbing thing imaginable occurred:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

What's worse: It's a recurring horror!  Like a nightmare you never wake up from.....

Had a really sadistic forgotten beast that took a special liking to children. after walling it inside the caverns, it alternated between beating children/babies to death with a sock and drowning them. After I opened the caverns again because I thought it was safe, it beat another baby and a child to death with his sock.

my first though after killing him was that I should have let him kill one more and I would have had a named sock.

Clearly, you've never had them bring tamed giant eagles or giant desert scorpions.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Maybe not horrifying, but sad.  I was recently attacked by goblins, and found out the disadvantage of using a lever to pull drawbridges (and having the hidey-hole burrow not include that lever).  Long story short, one of my dwarfs was outside gathering wood with her three babys, and the goblins killed all of them.  They had a father.  He is my legendary miner.  Luckily, he hasn't tantrumed yet, but I fear it may happen.  On top of that, he is suffering from the "Attend meeting with mayor who won't make time for you" glitch, so I haven't been able to get any mining done.

I made a mod for myself with playable orcs.
So I embark on a location with a volcano, flux, and iron ore. Pretty sweet, huh? Well, not so much. The location was also terrifying. After just 15 in game days, everyone but one orc was dead due to three named ogres. The ogres were killed by the three or four dogs, and the the three trolls I brought with me. The single survivor was stark raving mad, and I was afraid she would die before the first migrant wave came. Well, she's still alive, and the migrants are here, so crisis averted, at least one of them. There's blood all over the country side, and it lines the walls and floors in the fort. Closest I've ever come to losing a fort to anything but boredom.
I've also discovered how over powered picks are. My milita commander has killed three harpies and the last ogre with the same copper pick.

Yeah, you know all those stories about Dwarves surviving getting their guts torn out and walking around trailing ~~ everywhere?

Same here, except with

I have a serious cave blob problem at my fort, and a baby with 5 kills, it's mother keeps dropping it whenever the blobs come nearby, and then the baby bites the blob to death......

In a strange twist of events and mechanics, I had a megabeast ceaselessly beat on a particular dwarf.

For two years.

The instant we destroyed the monster, the dwarf succumbed to his wounds.  Probably died of two straight years of pain.

I embark with modded Draconians with the generated name "Nightmarespawn" with the group "The Armored Demon" into a terrifying forest.
Coincidence? I think not.

My saddest story was when in my current fort when i dug up through a pillar and started colonizing a cavern Zith the Ash blob made a b-line for my fort killing a mason, her pet, a miner, a dog, and then my legendary stone crater was killed.  As she was killed her husband a armorer was walking down the stairs so he went up to the monster and in one hit ripped it's skin off and killed it.  Then he burried his wife.

one of my more disturbing stories of a poor bowyer

just colonizing the cavern around year 3, a giant toad came up seeking to go to the surface, i couldn't have that

i created a makeshift squad of 10 random dwarves to eliminate the toad, it was sucessful, but we lost three, and the bowyer mentioned above was crippled for life, destined to spend his life in a hospital bed for the rest of is life.

thats not the bad part

seven years later, while doing major cavern renovations, a giant bat flew into the bowyer's 3x3 hospital room and decimated his body.

every single square inch of the 3x3 room was covered in dwarf blood and random body parts bitten off.. toes, fingers, ears

A child who had survived the devastation of my previous fortress returned as a migrant to a later fort, only to be the first resident killed by a rogue magma man.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.
