Ochita, the researcher, Scan's the Asteroid. He is now familiar with the Lilienthal Lander's basic laser imaging device. This device bounces a wide high-divergence single beam that bounces back for long ranged but rather vague intel on targets. This scanner cannot penetrate anything opaque.
Scanner results: S type asteroid: SiO4 silicon–oxygen tetrahedra, the asteroid is rotating at a slow rate of 5.5 days per full rotation. It's axis is horizontal at a tilt of 8 degrees. The scanner is partly deflected by a Ice particle field eminatting from the dwarf planet Ceres.
Engineer Calveen looks through the current ship supplies. There are two radio-active marked crates containing uranium-235, Six steam turbines, 5 Km of Insulated Copper Wire, tool boxes, welding masks, EVA suits, 4 Jet packs, tether, box of carabiners, Ascender (device that auto pulls people or objects along a rope.) 50 Anchors, 1 space tailored backhoe, MRE's for 2 years, Water Purifyer, Rock Crusher, 500 pound water tank, 2 Impact drills, Air tight expanding and insulating foam canister and tank, 4 portable solar panels and 2 flood lights.
Be advised, if designs are not detailed in construction method and lay out, things can go very wrong.Private Ram goes below deck and checks on the landing gear, 4 hydrolic legs for the hard landing with two robotic drill arms to connect to the asteroid. His check concludes that the port drill arm has a hydraulic leak.
Security officer Jack logs into the computer and does a general system check. Air composition reads as %90 Earth air pressure. %19 O2, %78 Nitrogen, %3 Co2, Cryo Tubes read as Offline and everyone is already over their sleeper fatigue. The computer confirms Rams visual inspection by stating the Port drill arm is malfunctioning.
Captain Sebastian alters the approach vector to the constatly sunny North Pole of Sagan. The poles gravity is 10% greater, but in the sceme of things the gravity is still miniscule.
Miner Hugehead sits back and watches.
Lilienthal's Proximity Sensor Goes off, a pulsing, "Beep Beep Beep" Followed by text flooding onto an overhead screen in the main operations room where everyone but Private Ram presides. The circular rooms central overhead display finally notices the ice particles ahead that the Laser Imaging Device Failed to read. The ship will not be able to avoid it as it's velocity is too fast to make a large enough correction. Ceres is about to pull you through her cold shower.
