So, yeah, whenever I'm de-caging wild animals that were in traps, the stupid dwarf freaks out as soon as the door opens and the critter gets loose. This doesn't happen with enemy gobbos (or anything else with a civ), nor does it happen with domesticated animals. Any water-less method of getting a ton of caged critters dead and uncaged?

Build the cage in a room, and flood it with magma. (Or water, if you want to keep the non-magma safe items too.)

Eh, my original design of "trap the heck out of the tiles leading out and let them sort themselves out" works well enough, was mostly wanting a way to pit the critters and then let the spike room kill them.

Building the cage right next to the pit/pond before throwing them in also works.(I think.)
