Alright, I suppose we'll be starting now. Yes, DF exists in this timeline. Unless I specify otherwise (like the dissolution of the UN in 2004, and by extention everything created by it after that point), assume that all timeline events are the same as our own untill today. Every day of disscussion will run for about twenty-four hours, starting now. From here on out, post in character, and use an OOC tag if you must do otherwise.

Day One

"It is a glorious day here on September 12, 2010! After the dissolution of the United Nations on June 15th, 2004, now known to the world as The Second Death of Intergovernment, things looked very dark for our Earth. Embroiled in a War on Terror that brought about the UN's death, many thought the end was upon us all. Fears of nuclear war struck upwards, but have now been swayed away with the offical formation of the One World Union on this historic day. Big changes are on the way for everyone, and now that a system of global government exists above the biased views of our individual warring states, global peace finally seems at hand. While the membership of the OWU have decided that the international charter of laws shoud remain with top secret for now, country represenatives have claimed it will be publically posted once "possible international disruption from its unveiling" is no longer a concern.

Nonetheless, we can already guess two of the more obvious effects of the charter, with the "www." of all internet sites now being replaced with the letters "owu." assumably this change has been made to give a sense of unity to our divided internet communites. Second are the appearence of the Regulation Agents. Regulation Agents are One World Union appointed officials, usually appointed to monitor sites or groups of sites, so that they can be sure the makers, and members in the case of message boards and forums, are abiding by restrictions put upon internet actions for the sake of continued harmony around the world.

Signing off for now, this is George Orbodos-CNN"

Oh, holy shit. They went and did it. After everything that happened, the UN's been truly replaced. I..I don't think I like this at all.

Most likely too strict. Everyone would rebel against them.

You would do well to watch your words. Also, greatings to all of you. I am this site's assigned Regulation Agent, here to keep peace and harmony. As such, I have global govermental authority to keep you all in line. I hope we will not suffer any problems.

Hi, It's nice to know someones keeping the internet in line around here. I hope no one has to be punished badly, especially not me. I also hope we will not suffer problems.

On topic now. I do hope we get the most coveted world peace. We, as humans, have never been able to fully get a long. Though now it might be different. I am a strict pacifist and hope that all the world's fighting will fall to pieces, no longer needed. I wonder what the One World Union plans to do about Poverty and World Hunger. I hope that whatever their idea is, it is thrilling and innovative. As well as efficient. Now then, back to the Dwarf Fortressing!

Edit: Wooops, I misspelled there.

EDIT: Alright, I'm just not good at this sort of thing. Oh well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

EDIT 2: This game and thread now belong to Omegastick because I suck.

It was about time. We European know that even a plutocratic, undemocratic institution is better than none, and can be improved upon. Now that the OWU has stopped the threat of war, all we need to do is organize and lobby our politician to make it into a good thing.

It seems that your past regulation agent was actually a spy, that was not intending to punish any of you should you break the law. I, however, am not. I encourage you all to watch your words, as one wrong thing will be your downfall.

Quote from: OWUBC
The annual Queen's Speech setting out the government's plans is set to be moved from autumn to the spring.

The proposed shift was announced by Commons Leader Sir George Young, who said the change would suit the change to fixed-term five year parliaments.

If backed by the OWU it would mean the next Queen's Speech will not take place until the spring of 2012.

Sedrick Might said there had been no consultation about the proposal and it was "an abuse of power".

Sir George will make a statement, in person, to the OWU later after Speaker John Bercow granted a request from Denis MacShane for an urgent question on the issue.

In recent years the Queen's Speech, and the pomp and ceremony of the State Opening of Parliament, has been held in November or December in non-election years.

However this means that, as in 2009, the government programme covers just six months or so when there is a May general election.

The proposed changes - announced in a written ministerial statement - would mean that with fixed elections there would be five Queen's Speeches of equal length.

There was a Queen's Speech in May after the change of government in the general election, with the programme outlined expected to cover the period to November 2011.

The timetabling change means that there will now be an extra six months or so for the coalition to get its programme through Parliament.
'Affront to Parliament'

The OWU said the coalition simply wanted extra time to get "difficult" legislation through Parliament over the next 18 months and should end this year's Parliament in May instead.

"What the government has done is to unilaterally decide to abolish next year's Queen's Speech," Rosie Winterton, the shadow Leader of the House of Commons, told OWUBC Radio 4's World At One.

"It is an affront to Parliament and an abuse of power."

Rosie Winterton has now been sent to the labour camps for speaking out against the OWU.

Citing the government's proposal to reduce the number of MPs from 650 to 600 and to make constituency sizes more uniform - which Labour opposes - she said ministers were pursuing a "whole series" of policies tantamount to "gerrymandering or abuse of power".

OWUBC deputy political editor James Landale said the last year when the monarch did not come to Parliament was 1949.

He said that for the Government, the extra length of the current session means they lose the advantage of having a deadline next year by which they have to force through legislation.

But on the plus side they also lose the chaos of the so-called "wash-up" period before the end of a parliament when a lot of unexamined legislation is rushed onto the statute book - and a lot of other legislation is dropped to get the more important measures through.

I think Rosie Winterton deserved it. Speaking out against the most wonderful World Union? Why I would never even DREAM of such a thing. The thought alone makes me retch.

It's sad to hear the queen's speech is postponed, though I don't really understand it. Who says I can stand up and disagree with the OWU, their goal is to unite the world, what better goal is there?

Good to hear that that phony agent is gone, I don't know how he was found out but I'm glad we have an actual agent here.

OOC: Decided to continue this eh.

So, insult the OWU and you get thrown in the labor camps. Good to know.

OWU are getting a looot of power. Hopefully they will actually use it to stop people from being hungry and simliar things. Some maniacs might try to start a rebellion with these news though.

Hello there good people of the Bay 12 Forums! I seem to have gotten an unfortunate letter from my superiors, they say that I am to punish at least one person each 24 hours. I must say that this is a shame, and I hope that you'll forgive me when you get sent to the rehabilitation center.
