uuuuuuuuuuuuugh, I am trying to kill this last dynasty. I have all 3 of my guys in high power, I have about 20 times more money then they do, crushed a few of their buildings, banished the youngest one TWICE,  assaulted her with 8 rouges (she soloed them all), shut down their buildings with inspections, and have been firebombing their buildings for years now.....WHY WON'T THEY DIE!

You did a good thing in a socially unacceptable way. Be happy you weren't brought up on charges.

And remember, thief guilds were actually a good thing as they regulated the illegal activity. Member thieves never wanted to bring too much attention to themselves, so would rarely do anything too conspicuous or illegal unless the payoff was big, and thief guilds would ruthlessly punish non-members for operating in their area. Thief guilds could really help in some cases.

Sending rogues to kill people?  Bah! Lords are tanks.  They can deal with mere thugs.  Send a heavily armed and armored character to kill them.  Sure, it's illegal, but who cares?

Though this game seems to be very kind to women in terms of both political power and biological clock.

apparently after that little incident i figured out the owner of the hideout was the mayor of the town XC.

I own the pirates version. I played this quite a bit a while back. It was fun for a while, but various bugs kinda killed it for me in the long run. It seemed like all my games would end early due to the dynasties dieing off on their own without me doing anything. They just didn't seem to have enough kids and everyone just died of old age. The political positions were always empty due to the people in power dieing off too. I once got up to the top position just by taking empty positions with nobody contesting them because all the people in the tree reached old age and started dropping. I had to win a vote to get the first position but all the rest I just took no contest.

I just wanted to play a long term simulation with long running family feuds between dynasties, but every dynasty in my game would just die off without me even harassing them by the third generation. Some of them would never even have children to begin with and die off before my first character died.

Yeah I have had that same problem over and over myself. I have tried to keep playing after all the families die out, but it is not that much fun. Plus I end up owning everything

That's my main problem with the single player game - the AI is so stupid it just gets itself killed off and never has children. One game one of the AIs had managed to really become a pest and he had a top political office in another city and had bought up thieves guilds and robber dens across the map and was seemingly doing well. I had bad relations and he was constantly robbing my carts and attacking my buildings, and I was having a bit of fun fending him off and using my house guards to raid his places back and sending my carts with full compliments of guards. Then he suddenly died of old age, and within a few turns the entire game was done due to everyone dieing off from old age.

And the multiplayer is too unstable...

If it wasn't for the AI dieing off I'd enjoy long single player games, and if it wasn't for the multiplayer being so unstable I'd enjoy games with friends. As-is I can't enjoy either, so the game experience is just ruined. Anyone know if the new renaissance version has these bugs fixed?

I wish my AI was that horrible....somehow one of them had a kid WITHOUT EVEN GETTING MARRIED!

And now the brat has grown up and I have to deal with her.....And her grandparents must have gotten the Devils perk because they are like, 20 years older then my guys who have died a long time ago.

I used to play this. Somehow I'd always end up as the equivalent of a mob kingpin, albeit one who was Sovereign; I'd order non-dynasty people to kill everyone I had a problem with and sabotage all the buildings I wanted so I could buy them cheaply. I seem to recall sticking family members in the position below Magistrate and then waiting for the Magistrate to die so there could be no legal repercussions for even the nonimmune family members and employees assigned to the daily murdering.

I don't think it's really possible to succeed in a totally legit manner; even when I started as a Scholar (which, by the way, is not all it would appear to be. Being able to make artifacts was never very useful) or other legit class I'd always drift back into mass murder and political corruption mode.

I assume, Micro, that the child was either adopted or is a sibling, or a bug I guess. I have never seen immaculate conception myself. But, enjoy having an enemy of worth, it is rare.

It is possible to be successful by legit means, in fact after awhile it becomes more interesting to do so, becuase it is too easy to use violence
