By the way, how are we doing on resource collectors?

If we have one, I recommend we attempt to build a second next mission.

Well I recommend we take the problem head on. Use corvettes and fighters on evasive to distract those assault frigates while we capture them one by one.
 We may want to gather enough resources to build a few more salvage corvettes. Especially if we lose any.

I must of lost track with the time lapse. Your squad wasn't listed in the last update either. I'll update it to include your 7 light corvettes, correct?

It appears to be a combat ship, which fires gauze rounds from its four forward turrets.
"Gauss", a magnetically accelerated projectile(which is actually called a coilgun), not "gauze". I doubt they're shooting bandages at you out there. Well, the repair corvettes might :-\.

I actually recall the game spelling it 'gauze'.

They just called them Mass Drivers in Cataclysm. Probably to avoid misspelling it again

I knew I spelled it wrong, but I couldn't think of the alternatives. I just went with it.

Mass Drivers often describe rather large "accelerators", while Gauss shoot smaller projectiles, sometimes several at a time, from my experience.

Then again, the ships might be huge, so they might be considered mass drivers anyway.


I'm just going to throw up a silly poll to fill the space, since it appears no one disagrees with shadow's plan.

HUGE Update. 30+ photos.



So, we have a delema. We can try to salvage these capital ships further, or just blow them up and get it over with. The latter is more safe, but less rewarding. Our salvaging may fail and we will be losing both salvage corvettes and fighters. However, if we succeed, we will be getting some higher advanced technology early. I'll throw up a poll.

I say salvage, Next mission should give us plenty of resources to re-build.(at least I damn well hope)

However, blow up one that is focusing on the trays. Should give us a little more ease at capturing if one of their frigates stops focusing on the fighters, or if one doesn't deviate we get to save more trays.

Also, I highly recommend we build up collectors until we have at least three for the next mission. We want to be raking in the RUs.
