Finely, I would like to specialize squads, so adding salvage corvettes to a fast combat squad doesn't make too much sense in my mind.
Actually, you'd be surprised how well a bunch of fighters can distract a ship that you wish to capture...

I meant only for this mission, we need to recover the missio data recorder of the  Khar-Selim, right?

I suppose. But when I think of squad, I think of "all in same formation". The interceptors would be moving as fast as the salvage corvette. Keeping it in one formation also makes it easier for me to keep track of it. I mean, I wouldn't mind like 5 scouts + a salvage corvette, but mixing the roles the squad takes part in ruins its efficiency.

I meant only for this mission, we need to recover the missio data recorder of the  Khar-Selim, right?

I automate any units not under command of a squad(and automate to some extent the units in a squad). You can just say "guard the salvage corvette" or something. Basically, I play the game, and you guys have basic control over a set number of units. This is just to make it different from "I play, you guys watch how I play, and I play some more". If that was the case, I would just play it without bothering to make an LP of it.

"Edit" Let me rephrase what I mean about squads. I just want them to be specialized, to make them more interesting, instead of "jack of all trades". Salvage corvette + Interceptors would mean that either the salvage corvette is useless in a fire fight, or the interceptors are only lightly used to distract a frigate. Very inefficient. Yes, I could split them up and have them support other things, but then whats the point of calling it a squad?

Okay, I misunderstood what you mean.

Well, escort the bloody corvette then. 8)

You mean corvette right?  :-\

Or is this some joke I'm not catching on to?

"Edit" Changed poll, the old one was kind of pointless.

Hard for me to give an honest answer to the poll seeing as I've only played the first game.

Hurray, another update!(im really getting lazy with these updates)

Welp, there it is. You guys want new orders, or stay with the last ones. The orders are ---->  Monkeylord asked to organize some interceptors + our scouts into this formation : Both in evasive and claw, with the scouts guarding the the interceptors. Sheb: Escort the salvage corvette, which I took as guard. So they will follow the salvage corvette to the mothership, warding off anything that attacks it. I wont automate Sheb's units.

I am also updating the OP(going to leave the pictures though).

"Edit" Oh, and in case I didn't make it obvious enough, I'm asking you guys if you have any particular build orders you had in mind. If not, I'll just invest about half of it into interceptors(saving the rest for whatever I need it for).

I'd like a couple light corvettes if that's alright. They can accompany the assault frigate once I get it. As for now I'll have them go and meet up in the approaching battle.

I'm fine with my interceptor. I may move my admiral ship to a light corvette later on. For now, go and engage hostile. Ruthlessly.

I found to time to actually do an update on time(daily)!

Wow that took a long time. Don't expect an update from me tomorrow, though I may squeeze one in.

7 corvettes ay? Well look what being humble has done for me...

Mop up all immediate enemy forces with aggressive tactics, then activate evasive tactics and go to assault the enemy carrier, making sure to not engage any forces until reaching the carrier by taking a waypoint path. (evasive tactics to cut down on travel time)

Just wanted to point this out -----> We only need to defend against the carrier. Destroying the carrier may be the quicker route, but its the biggest thing we have tried to kill. Weapon specs are really unknown(well, I know them, but I'm pretending I don't, as with most things). Perhaps send a probe first or something?

"Edit" Then again, you seem to know what you are doing. We can always restart if it ends badly. Keep them on evasive tactics when they arrive?

carrier implies enemy fighters. suggest get ours home for refuelling and repairs and shadow the enemy carrier at a safe distance with our light corvettes (support with a repair corvette?). agressive, square formation, at a point equidistant between mothership and carrier along line vector between the two...
