I think our first priority should be ensuring protection of hive mind, second priority should be integration of spheres or their inhabitants into brood if possible, we should prepare to be able to exterminate them, but only if our continued existence is threatened.

With that in mind, we should, as a side project start a panspermia campaign, where we launch hardened pods at distant stars filled with a library of all our knowlege, dna, astronomical and otherwise stored on something that is very stable, like quartz.  Include the smallest organism possible that is able to weather the journey and convert that knowledge into a new hive on any hospitable planet it happens to land upon.   This will help ensure that even if our current homeworld is destroyed, our legacy will live on.

I'm guessing that none of these colonies will be formed in the timescale of this game, but it will at least give us a backup in case we die.

Also work on developing free conversion of mass to energy and energy to mass.

Make an nonconducting, vacuum surviving, Silacoid, and ship it out.

Already said that you have no idea of how to make such a creature.

Someone suggested blasting it with weaponized radio waves and microwaves. Something similar, it contained the word 'waves' is the point I'm attempting to make. Try that.

Er, we blasted it with radio waves. It's dead, gone, kaput, and ex-parrotsphere.

Why wouldn't we? I'm no biologist, but it seems all you'd need to do is replace the carbon with silicon.

I thought you wanted it to eat rocks or something. If all you want to do is make it with silicon instead of carbon, then that's fine.

We blasted it with lasers we apparently made. I was suggesting an alternative someone suggested that would probably be safer.

Create a few recon ships.

Gather the debris of the sphere, and attempt to reverse-engineeer them.

It was nothing but various gases.

Well, I also want the hyperheated core, but that can wait.

Resume broadcasts to the planet. Start with basic numerical progression, then addition, generate shared symbols for mathematical operations, plot the coordinates of the origins of the transmissions relevant to their plants centre and its axis of rotation and the current direction of the star. Name the star, the planet, the rotation, form the relationship into a phrase. Generally try to establish a shared communication format, using Primskese as a base.

Did we try to communicate after Jethro's mind probe was destroyed?

Nope, I don't think we did.

Let's add a few Firewitches to our fleet.

They killed our mindprobe! we should chuck asteroids at their planet until it spontaneously ignites in fusion!

You decide that the only way to eliminate the spheres would be to turn JOSHUA into a star. You start pumping hydrogen into it from HEPHAESTUS while scouting out some asteroids to chuck into it.

Additionally, you create some colony ships on JETHRO, and send them out to several planets that could be good places to settle. Sure, they'll get there in a couple hundred years, but at least Jethro should live on if the sphere destroys you in this solar system. Additionally, you experiment with silicon-based life-forms. It could be useful in the future. (Design a ship that uses them.)

Speaking of the spheres, some of them are rising out of JOSHUA as we speak. They are of a size that you've never seen before. One of the spheres are as large as your Cephalocarrier, while the rest (all three of them) are slightly larger than a Jellymind.

FLEET 1: STATIONED AROUND JOSHUA
1 Cephalocarrier
3 Jellyminds
4 Cephaloscuttler Bands
