Create thousands of tiny creatures that absorb nearly all energy directed at them, and are capable of withstanding intense pressure, and send them in a cloud to coat the sphere, rendering it blind/deaf/whatever.

Er, what will they do when they absorb this energy?

Create/evolve a device/organ that absorbs electric energy and stores it.  Create a second thing that can either slowly release the energy for a shield, or release it all at once in a bolt.  This will not only allow us to combat the sphere, but will also allow us to enter the highly charged atmosphere of a gas giant with a shield that is constantly recharging.  We would be virtually invincible on its home turf.

Begin creating a network of the energy absorbers on the surface of Jethro for use in future projects that require power.

Space is several pages away. For now, blimps FTW!
By several you of course mean, probobly not going to be even mentioned in game in this topic. Right?
Ha.

Also, what Derekristow said.

You start to create an organ that could store energy and release it in various forms. This is actually harder than it sounds, and you have trouble with the organ. Namely, it melts if you use it too long. Sadly, it won't be ready for the fleet that you are making.

After considering several other ideas, you reject most of them. Any type of organism that you could send out would eventually get sucked into the sphere, and until you figure out how to make organisms out of rock, or some other strong material, you doubt it would survive. You decide that until further experiments can be done, light-based weaponry is the way to go.

With your fleet constructed, you send them out to Joshua. As the sphere rises out from the gas giant's atmosphere, you blast it with your lasers. The surface of the sphere begins to change colour, going from black to blue to yellow, till at last, the sphere explodes.

FLEET 1: STATIONED AROUND JOSHUA
1 Cephalocarrier
3 Jellyminds
4 Cephaloscuttler Bands

What is Joshua mainly comprised of?
is it's flammable, I say we burn it to the ground liquid core.

Hydrogen mostly, but not enough oxygen for it to actually burn.

Would burning it be of any effect, and even if it did, would it be worth it sending enough oxygen for it to burn effectively?

Couldn't we send a big lump of electrified carbon it's way? that might pseudoscientifically create lots of methane!

burning it wouldn't get rid of the atmosphere, it would just convert it into a different composition of molecules, conservation of matter being what it is and all.  You could try to boil the atmosphere off, but as it's already a gasseous mass, the gasses would likely stay within the planet's gravity well, essentially expanding the gas giant's volume, with the same mass.

What might be interesting is pushing the gas giant over the threshold to give it a greater amount of mass, and an increase in pressure, allowing fusion to ignite in its core, turning it into a small star.

SO.... how much additional mass would it take for us to hypothetically give joshua the mass required to have a self sustaining fusion reaction?

Quite a bit, though JOSHUA is pretty close already.

The purpose of igniting the atmosphere (as I understand it) would not be to refove it, but to destroy the remaining orbs.
