co-opt the fish's eyesight if it is better than our own/add it to our own

You have no way to take it's DNA. (Unless you mean that you want to use its eyes it see, in which case you want better control over its brain/systems.

That's a good idea.  Next time we should specialize our roots so we can absorb upgrades from other beings.

i meant use the fish's physical eyes, so yes better control

oh well, though it would be cool :(, I say we should make it so we slowly kill it and fungisze it so when it dies we will be riding a giant fungus fish, and thats not including all the other ones we infect. 8)

Make a really good memory system for the chemical brain, long term storage of all sorts of information, and none of the forgetting that neural brains do.

Specialize storage and copying cells, present in all tissue types, to make all the chemical brain memories highly redundant and existing anywhere. Slightest trace of one of our species would then let any other member of it closely enough related reconstruct most of it's memories.

Specialize search/recombination cells for chemical brain, ridiculously parallized thought and association here we coooome!

I say we should spend all three on improving control. MOVE HALF A MICRON TO THE RIGHT! TOO FAR, GO BACK. DAMNIT!

Improve: Control Cells: give us more control
            Tentacles: add thorns
Chemical Brain: more intelligence never hurt anybody...

Create: Eyes: we need some.
can't think of another organ we need

Specialize: can't think of anything

if you want to steal the fishes eyesight, you should just grow a retina made out of our own cells inside it's eye, the optics is the hard part.

Being throughly bored riding on your fish, you begin to infect other fish, so you can start evolving already.

You can specialize two different cells, add two new organs, and improve 3 cells/organs.

.....
Say at least improve fat cells,CONTROL CELLS,Chemical Neurons

Yes, i think we'll be more adaptable if we steal hard to develop organs and senses rather than develop our own, that way if something with better eyes comes along we can use it's eyes too

yea, and - especialy if we steal the exact pigments to put in our own cells - we'll automatically be adapted to the conditions where the animal we have infected lives, which is likely the same place we live after we infect it.

You specialize some cells that will steal DNA from your host and give it to yourself. Additionally, you specialize some cells for parallel thought. (Merged with chemical neurons.)

You improve the control you have over your 'host', your chemical brain, and your DNA stealing cells.

You create some eyes, and an organ that will give you chemical memory. (Merged with chemical brain.)

(I figure I'll have to start drawing better now.)

Fungus 2.1:

Specialized cells:
Body cells: Lean, Grippy
Poison cells: Reproductive Poison
Green cells: Great Chloroplasts (+2.0 food a turn)
Neurons: Good Connections
Chemical Neurons: Okay reactions. Parallel thought.
Sensory nerves: Has tiny hairs that allows you to (barely) hear.
Fat cells: Stores food.
CONTROL CELLS: Okay control. 'Kinda control where they go!' mode only. No way to communicate with infected.
DNA stealing cells: Kinda works.

Organs:
Brain: Bit bigger.
Chemical brain: Same as regular brain. Parallel thought. Above average Chemical memory.
Poison tentacles: Made out of poison cells. Poisons everything they touch. Seriously guys.
Leaves: Made out of green cells. Helps to hold food. (Additional +1.0 food a turn)
Hyphae: Anchors yourself to the seafloor. Very fine, helping you to anchor to the seafloor.
Roots: Further anchors yourself to the seafloor. Supplies nutrients to help survival.
Eyes: Allows you to see better.

Have the host swim around a bit to get used to the new controls. Try to find something for No-Jaw Fisheyes to latch onto.
