I think we may have discovered Handwavium, which allowed us to maintain our hivemind through space

I believe that before the hyper-relays, we used courier ships to communicate with the various hiveminds on the planets.

[snip] have our entire existence become part of the hive mind at the same time, increasing our intelligence, and giving us instantaneous knowledge of the entire empire.

Haven't we already done this?
How could we have done this without FTL communication? Yeah, we could make each planet one hive mind, but each fleet and planet would be slightly out of synch, and would have trouble cooperating on problems and such, correct me if im wrong on this though, i haven't read pages of 40-100 of this.

How could the NOT-BLOBS do it without FTL communication? How do individuals communicate before phones? With a brain the size of a planet, we could easily figure out a way to control our empire without using FTL communication.

Yeah, humans could communicate without phones without any problem, however their is a slight difference between talking on a phone and being the same brain.
What we are is like 10 computers in the same room, able to communicate with each other via the internet, or because of a network. What i want is to be one comupter that's 10 times as fast,

And we were communicating, but it wasnt really 1 hive mind, each world and each fleet would be their own, with FTL communication, we can fuse all the planets into one hive mind.

What i'm saying is that instead of bunches of different hive minds, we should get 1 huge hive mind to increase intelligence (which would help with research), and increase productivity by having each planet instantly know what each other planet needs.

I figured that we only had the one soul, so that we were aware of everything occurring within our self. The logistics of a practically cohesive brain the size of a planet are somewhat troubling, even with electrical signals it would take seconds for data on one side to be relevant to data from the other, which is quite slow for a brain...
Nah, i think it's something like 1/8th of a second for light to travel around the world, and the different parts would be able to work on different stuff then communicate it (like multi-core computers, or those huge research things which share computer time for finding prime numbers and shush). lol, we are a evil hive mind, of course we don't have a soul

my question from last time still stands:

Also, if we infect the not-blobs, do we know what they knew? (eg. if we infect a scientist do we know the science he knew). If answer is no, determine a way for that to happen.

Because the solution to not being able to control your dakka is MOAR DAKKA.

That's it. We've finally crossed over and become the nation of Da Orky Boyz.

Then since we have FTL communication, we're fine.

Also, yes we would.

As your forces expand east and west, you encounter something you didn't expect to see. Orbiting a red star about 8 lightyears away from Sheb (4 hexs up and to the right) fleet 2 encounters an orbiting space station. What is so surprising is not the fact that it is there, but the fact that you do not understand its transmitions. In other words, you've found another source of food alien species.

You wonder what your first action towards them should be.

Slowly apporach and them stop at a respectable distance. Attempt to communicate with them, use similiar methods as what we used with the giant spheres, be prepared for AMBUSHES, LIKE NORMAL BUSHES BUT WITH MORE AM.

Ask the NON-BLOBS if they know anything about it.

No! Don't go running to th NOT-BLOBS like a child running to a parent wen he discovers something unknown, you are your own UNIVERSE CONQUERER!

Intercept their transmissions and use our uber-intelligent hivemind to discern patterns in pronunciation, structure, and tone, and decrypt their language. Once we have their speech down, we can sell their location data and language to the NOT-BLOBS for more awesome technology.

NO! Then they know  we have space travel.

You hover slightly outside of the alien's system, monitoring their transmissions. After a while, you decide that you have learned enough to start to approach them, keeping an eye out for bushes with more am.

When you start to communicate with the aliens, they are obviously surprised, asking you what the hell you are doing in their solar system.
