Try to make a REALLY TINY, and hard to see creature that can sneak in and poison one and posibly bring back a DNA sample.

Make several tiny versions of the millipede to sneak into the structure without being spotted.

Woah, a millipede, those things are filled to the brim with poison... Compare the millipede's poison with our own, is it is superior, upgrade ours.

But if it is a cintepede, then what the fuck are we wasteing our time with it?

Centapedes can be poisonous, as well.
The way I see it, a centapede is a millipede that eats meat.

This sounds good.

You call off the crab attack (No use losing all of them) and send an infected millipede through the gap, in order to bring back some DNA of whatever is behind the door. Sadly, the millipede has no eyes, so you are not quite sure if you got the DNA of the actual creatures or just some domesticated animals.

Okay.
Try sending several dozen of the light-drones in to confuse the attackers, with smaller crabs with harder shells to attack them.

Just how deep are these shafts?  I've got an idea.

okay make a millipede with many hollows in it's body then make some small drones that are like walking eyeballs. Have the light drones and the eye drones ride inside the millipede

Make an exceptionally long millipede which is hollow, and have it undulate to pump water from where we started to where the sentients are.

This thread is ten kinds of awesome.

Make a bioluminescent millipede with eyes.

Make a ton of tiny bugs (really just a poison sac with legs and jaws), send them in, have them swarm those on the other side of the door. equip them to bite once and then die. if they can pass on their parasite instead of using poison, that would be great, though We haven't been able to do that yet.
