Are you thinking about uploading to the df map archive? Just so we could get a detailed look at the forts progression.

((Yey, week-end is over, thus I got a good opportunity to finish up my projects.  Also I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out how to upload a save for you guys to explore in to your hearts content... I didn't think it would be this hard but for some reason I just can't figure it out.  I dunno, I'll keep fiddling with it and see if I can get it to work.))

Viscoth sighed.  He wanted to create a safe spot for all the fishers to fish as well as a repository for all the water for the traps he had planned.  it was all going horribly wrong however.  Thank Armok that Sareesa had increased the size of the military drastically in size from six to thirteen strong soldiers and crossbowmen.  The lake however was a major setback.  Having accidently linked it to an Aquifer the lake slowly drained.  Of course if he wanted to fix it he had to wait for it to finish draining completely, or at least enough so it wouldn't flood the entire area, and the aquifer drained the water ever so slowly.

Of course, the population increased as more and more dwarves heard about the success of the fortress.  So much so that Viscoth was actually now considered a Mayor.  Realistically, it was no real change, for no elections had taken place yet, but it just went to show how hardwork and perseverance paid off.  Viscoth hurried into the temple of Armok, it had been decorated with 10 statues made by the masons in their spare time.  A window sat at the front near the alter, shaped in the image of Armok and make of three different varieties of gems.  The microline floor shimmered freshly placed, and then it occured to Viscoth what the Masons must do next.  The fort was secure now, now was the time for decorating it in a way that that was pleasing.  Soon he would instruct Elizar that he would begin work on a statue larger than any other he had ever completed.

Sareesa looked around the fortress, seeing nobody around her, she kicked her bed.  Viscoth didn't understand what was at stake in the fortress.  Just because there had been no threats so far didn't mean there would always be no threats.  Eventually they would descend to the caverns and there they must have a strong military if they were to have any chance of sealing some of it off from the beasts that lived down there so that they might use the area for the benefit of the fortress.  Sareesa raised her hand to her head and held it at her temples.  Would it really be such a diversion of resources to have an adequately trained military simply by providing a few beds, Archery Targets, Weapon racks and Armor Stands.  For the first time in decades Sareesa felt pure white hot rage boiling up inside of her.  Drawing out her Sword Sareesa held it in front of her perfectly straight.  She imagined her father in front of her and slashed in a line that would have perfectly severed his body in a diagonal line from his shoulder to his waist.  As she slashed Ron entered the room.

"I'm sorry, am I interrupting something."  he said ready to back out of the room.  Sareesa startled by his unexpected appearance quickly sheathed her blade.  "No not at all, I was just... practicing.  Wouldn't do for us to get out of shape you know.  Ron sat on a chair as Sareesa sat down on her bed.  "So, to what do I owe the pleasure to?"  asked Sareesa.

"Honestly," said Ron, he had been thinking of this for a while and finally decided that something had to be done, "I want to know why you're with that crazy priest.  I know something isn't right here, you two are polar opposites, what would you ever see in each other."  Sareesa blushed fiercely.  This was not what she had expected.  Of course, if anyone found out the real reason she might be in danger, from either the finder, or from Viscoth.  "What are you talking about Ron, I'm per..."  she said cut off by Ron's sudden movement.  He stood and yelled, knowing it would not reach beyond the thick rock walls of Sareesa's room.  "What do you take us for Sareesa, fools?  Something isn't right, and either you WILL tell me, or I will find out, by force if I have to."

"Sit down Ron, please.  If anybody overheard you it could be... ugly, for us both."  Sareesa pleaded with him.  "I have to go Ron, I'll see you later."  she walked to the door and paused for a moment.  She took something out of her trouser pockets and dropped it on the ground.  She glanced and Ron, and left.

Ron picked up the object Sareesa had dropped sure it was important in some way.  Examining it, he wasn't sure exactly what to make of it.  It was a gem, or perhaps cut glass, but inside of it there appeared to be blood flowing.  Examining it closer Ron saw a small flash of something silvery.  If this was a clue of some sort Sareesa was certainly being cryptic.  But then, if Viscoth really was connected to Armok in some way that only she new about, this might be the only way she had to say what she really was thinking.

Ron gave it some more thought before going off to talk to the other dwarves of the Fortress and pick their brains, as long as Viscoth wasn't around and he didn't mention Sareesa he should be able to ask about the gem freely.

((Yey story event contest sort of thingy.))

Upon examining the gem closer and with other dwarves around him, he finally caught a glimpse of the silvery object embedded inside the gem again.  It appeared to be... some sort of animal, stained with the blood inside the gem.  Then he saw the animal to begin moving and the others saw it as well.  This was no ordinary gem, it had magic around it in some way, a magic that was exceedingly rare in the entire world, this gem must have cost more than a king's fortune, how did Sareesa manage to get a gem which could convey a message presumably any that she wished?

All the dwarves refocusing their attention onto the gem saw the following:  The silvery substance inside swirled into the shape of a crystal being grasped by an arm.  Following this image another one appeared of an old wizened warrior fighting against a young dwarf and the young dwarf was quickly struck down.  The dwarf that was struck down quickly morphed in the silvery substance to become a giant monster... some kind of giant insect.  This image quickly faded from view being replace with one last image before finally reverting it's normal state.  This last image was of a broken sword.  The question was, what could this all mean?

edit:  Don't ask how, I accidentally posted before I was ready to post.  Anyhow, I would like to hear your opinions on the images above.  All of the images have something to do with what you know, or can be logically assumed from knowledge I have already given you.  If anybody I feel is suitably "correct"  I will reward you with whatever you want, within reason, to happen within the fortress. 1 guess per person by the way so make it count.  And yes, I like to use symbols in my story telling so unless you guys have any major objections, any future puzzles will probably be in the same format.

the insect isn't literally an insect but rather a symbol for something else. I realized it might be a bit more difficult than I originally thought, I'm going to let it go though and make sure the next one is easier.  ((Yey for muddled writing because of tiredness-ish-ness))

Elizar had a good look at the gem and looked at four rotation of the symbols before leaning back in thought.

"Crystal usually means something immovable, something that cannot be changed. But it wants to be changed and is held back by even stronger force than it. So something is holding someone strong back, someone who doesn't want toe crystal to change. Then we see the usual tales of the young challenging the old but is defeated. But the young will change and become stronger than the old. But the young is worse than the old, hence the insect. And when it attacks, the old breaks down, thus the broken sword. The young conquers all.

"What is the old? It's obvious given what we're supposed to do here. The old is Armok. And it is holding back the thing that wants to change. The young is the beasties that have cropped up everywhere, the Titans and the more dangerous Beasts of the underworld. Perhaps even the Demons the legends talk about. They are challenging the old, Armok. And they might be victorious if nothing will be done. And we're making the temple of Armok, and if people have noticed Saressa has been increasing drafts and training.

"The final showdown for the stability of Armok is here."

As there was a stunned silence when Elizar completed his case, he just shrugged. "But it could be only my imagination." He said before turning to his current statue-in-making.

((I think I may have messed this up with an accidental abandonment (it was late and I was just checking one thing for a post), thankfully I have lots of back-ups but the history might not ever be quite right again... not really sure how to fix this... but I suppose I can play this fort through to completion anyhow, it shouldn't be a big deal as far as this Community Fort is concerned, I was just looking forward to creating a giant static world all to be posted in this thread, hence why I used the world name rather than the Fort.))

edit:  Crap, it keeps crashing every time I try and go past the season it's currently in, well that was the most anti-climatic fort I've ever had, nothing was even going wrong, it was all going good.
