Rock short sword?

How effective are they compared to other materials?

They're kinda buggy right now, they just become wood when you make 'em.

In 40d, they were as strong as steel.

I was under the impression that the bug was just that they were identified as wooden swords (which wood determined by which is used for the 'hilt'), Obsidian still has a sharpness of 20k (twice steel), which seems to be why it doesn't show up on the stones list (drop it under 10k, reload, enable it, save, set it back to 20k, reload).

Are the swords which elves wield then actually obsidian blades, or are they really just that pathetic?

Foolprooof way to penetrate aquifers of unlimited depth.  (Make sure to import at least 10 stones for mechanisms)
Toughen Dwarves by dropping stuff on them.  (Nothing too heavy though, and make sure to wear armor.)
