Castle Crashers
« on: September 07, 2010, 12:03:55 pm »

I believe this game out recently on the PS3 and I've not really heard much about it. I do know that it seemed to be quite popular, and I've read a little bit about it yesterday but I wonder if what I read was a bit biased. What do you guys think of this game? Is it worth 15 bucks?

I did a search for 'Castle Crashers' and couldn't find a topic. Is that a hint about what you guys think about the game? =p

It is AWESOME. Co-op that is, me and my cousin been playing this game for 2 days straight. It's definately a great game when you've got some friends to play this with, but for single player only? Nah

Oh? That's good, because I absolutely love co-op games, probably more than 'versus' type games. =)

It also has versus, if I remember correctly.

If I remember, Castle Crashers was out for Xbox way more than PS3. It was developed for it actually.
Nice Co-op game, I just wish I could cough up the money to buy it.

Castle Crashers is pretty awesome.  The only thing about it though is that, to me, at least, it never gets any better than the forest area.

The carriage ride is pretty awesome, too, but a lot of everything else just feels kinda fillery.

I had this for the xbox a few years back and saw they just recently added it for PS3 and HAD to buy it.  Fun as hell, and my girlfriend would actually play it with me.  Has a cool art style and music and its playfully violent.  Fun bosses as well and lots of stuff to collect and unlock.

It has that oldschool arcade feel, like the old X-Men or Simpsons arcade game that made co-op fun.

Yea, but it's explained in the story as well and it's quite fun to have beaten the boss, only to turn on each other and fight for the princess :P

Edit: Story might not be the right word..:P

why the T rating? would it be okay for an impressively mature 10-year-old?

eh I wouldn't pay 15 for it, I mean it's basically an arcade game you ccan play for free online, but if you do have alot of friends who would enjoy it, then definitly.

Alright, first, the only internet game that is like Castle Crashers is the version that is just a Castle Crasher fighting a floating head and it's beard.
Second, it is an Arcade Game, but has some of the common things of an RPG/whatever and you can go back on certai levels for the shops and shit. The RPG/whatever things are Leveling up, use of potions or shit like that, magic and some combos...
Also, the game is semi-hard on single, and much easier on multiplayer. Except for the end where you have to beat up your friends.

ooo.... beating up other players (who, for me, would be far less experienced gamers) for the princesses... EXCELLENT.

This game is awesome, got it on the 360 back in uni and spent days playing it coop with my housemates. It has an excellent mix of coop and light pvp.

I'd warn against buying any of the DLC though, they don't really add much to the game except a few slightly different characters and some overpowered weapons.

Tried XB Live MP, got kicked because I didn't know the specific trick the other players used to level grind.

Which, incidentally, was finish boss fight, low level player throws boomerang, high level player blockwalks into it until death occurs.

Been out for ages on the xbox, extremely fun, but not as much in single player. In turn, everyone sitting around the same screen is more fun than playing it on Live, albeit live works just fine.

Me and my friends didn't do any level grinding BS, but we did have to go back to old levels for money and XP now and then, which isn't a terrible fate.
