Remove cat hearts

Okay so I want to kill all the cats in my game...
I tried removing the heart tag in the raws of my save folder, but that didn't seem to do anything.
Please advise...

I hoped this was going to be a suggestion about cats being heartless mind-controlling monsters and that they should be represented as such in game. Oh well...

On topic: Dig an 11 z level deep hole, designate the top as a pit, and assign all cats in the fortress to this zone. Enjoy your cat pudding.

I don't think you can do that with owned pets can you?  Can't tie them up or cage them, I know that.

Aquatic didn't work...
Yep can't pit owned animals. I would just throw them in my Ettin Labyrinth if I could.
Problem with upright spears is that they stab babies too.

Just put all non-owned cats in cages and then every time a new kitten is born, put it into a cage as well.  Eventually the pet-cat population will dwindle if it cannot be renewed.

...Unless of course kittens born to a pet cat begin life as pets.  I have never actually encountered a catsplosion.

It can be something like that, as pet bonding is checked WHILE THE GAME IS PAUSED, as much sense as that makes - mouse operations can trigger it for sure but I think I've also had it happen while doing things with the keyboard.

Why you even have breeding pair of cats in your fortress, honestly.

I buy one at embark. Then, in case immigrants bring one, any annoucement 'cat x gave birth to kitten(s)' automatically makes me open the animal tab and mark them for butchering. I thought it was like, an iron rule of every DF player :P

Remove the cat's brains, but be sure to do it from the save's Raws, not the games Raws (they're separate now).  This should cause them to all die within 10 steps when you start the game again.

My advice: Also add [nosmellyrot] so you don't have to deal with miasma.

1. Download Runesmith
2. Flag all the pets useless vermin for slaughter
3. Wash, rinse, repeat until fortress is once again free from cat droppings and dog piss.

Have you read about the nuclear catsplosion? Use the Homeotherm tag but keep the temperature to some vaguely reasonable level and the cats will only melt, not vaporise.
