... Working in the grocery store I work at, I got the idea to try a bite of a small piece of raw garlic once. Once. That... Oil permeates your mouth, and it almost BURNS it's so potent. And you can't wash it away, because it's an oil or something. Everything you drink and eat to wash it away just takes on the taste of PURE GARLIC, and you want to set your mouth on fire to make it go away.

Milk should work.

Works for Chilli too - milk contains fats which are capable of dissolving the chemicals responsible for the burn, which are not soluble in water.

Heh. That reminds me of something. One time my mom was preparing dinner, and she'd chopped some garlic up into cubes and set it aside. My stepdad ended up coming into the kitchen, noticed the garlic, mistook it for cheese, and popped a cube in his mouth. It was amusing seeing an almost stereotypical 'manly' person get reduced to tears by something that small.

One of my roommates made cornmeal cookies for a housewarming party, and was rolling and forming them on a cutting board. A cutting board that had just been used to mince raw garlic. The end result was garlic-infused sweet corn biscuits. They were weird... but not altogether bad. Definitely not housewarming party material, though.
