He might have been HolistDective style. EG. He picked one up to use as a weapon in addition to his normal leggings.

I was kinda disappointed when the second half of the notification popped up, to be honest. 

I was thinking more along the lines of this legendary champion, all clad in dented and dinged up steel plate, his blood-drenched axe slung over his back, a notch in the handle for every enemy that saw the swing of that blade as the last sight they ever saw, a battered shield strapped over his arm... and a fluffy, pink stuffed hippo hidden discretely in his breastplate.

... yeah I thought he was making mashed potatoes out of his enemies with a hippo he was holding.

Yeah I just had this mental image of a dwarf in steel armor thundering down a giant hippo on his enemies, the hippo just making some kind of happy face ^-^ and the dwarf with an awesome expression <o>_<o>

Frankyl, I saw a grizzled dwarf, covered in scar patting a montrous hippo with some poor goblin stuck on it's teeth. The best kind of hippo.

I imagined conjoined hippo-dorf twins. But that would be just silly because multi-tile creatures haven't been implemented yet.
