Epilogue: End of the BeginningWith the destruction of the Alien Brain and its support system, the aliens were unable to strike back at Earth. Satellite scans of the surface have revealed no life signs, and it is believed that the aliens have died due to lack of supplies.
The X-COM soldiers who survived the mission were hailed as heroes back on Earth. The existence of the X-COM project was revealed, ushering in a new era of global unity as nations banded together in the face of an unknown alien empire.
Foley stayed on in the X-COM project, being chosen as its head after Charles Brooke retired. He spent most of the time overseeing X-COM’s new agenda – the recovery of Elerium from UFOs crash landing into the ocean.
Hal Devios became a respected weapons scientist after the war, making several advances in the field of explosives. He was later re-recruited by X-COM as a weapons developer.

In the years following the fall of Cydonia, there were no confirmed reports of alien activity. The only unexplained event in the war happened while the Avenger was en route to Earth.
A powerful signal was detected emanating from the Cydonian base. The signal was picked up by sensors across the Americas, and its purpose was theorized to be a distress signal to the larger alien empire. The event was deemed to be of little significance, because the Earth had coincidentally blocked the beam from reaching deep space. Since the destination of the signal could not be determined, the logs pertaining to it were left unfinished.
The truth would be known in four decades, when mankind had to combat a newly arisen
Terror from the Deep.
