@CJ1145 That first gun ever was designed with the use of the Apple and as such it can involve technology from any time period, it's just manufactured in the 15/16th century.

You raised the point about it being a setting that Ezio is not used to; Although you are right that Ezio hasn't fought in a jungle in any of the games (I don't know about the comics, etc.) Ezio would be more than capable of concealing himself. You are also only half-right about Ezio hiding in the crowd; Ezio is nigh on undetectable in a crowd, but he has shown an amazing ability to hide without anyone other than the lookout guards nearby. He has even hidden himself from people that are paranoid and always on the lookout for him.

Ezio's main skill is crowd-stealth, as opposed to general stealth. He's good at it, sure, but it's not his forte, and it's more likely for him to slip up in the jungle. And he's never that quiet, if anyone's listening for the slightest sounds of movement they'd notice him coming a mile away.

Wait, Apple? His gun was just a schematic from Altair's Codex (which was supplemented by the Apple, of course). It's powerful, but don't forget the gun was 500 years ahead of its time when Altair even thought of it, then there's the matter of degradation through succession. Altair would take the schematic from the Apple, and get it mostly right but with a few errors. Don't forget, Altair probably doesn't even know what he's making the schematics for, so it's not as efficient as it could be, most likely. Then Leonardo gets it, and follows it as exactly as he can, but you must remember that even he doesn't know what a gun is, per se, so his adaptation may have a few more errors.

The gun is powerful, as the end result, but is also short-ranged and takes a while to aim. It's also extremely loud, so if he missed that first shot, or Armstrong survived, there's no way he'd remain hidden.

Leonardo knew very well what a gun is, and even built a few himself. They're said to have been ahead of their time by quite a degree.

We are talking about daVinci, right?

Altair used the Apple to design the gun and the apple gives the user access to all knowledge.

Was the person surrounded by guards following a known route? Because that is the deciding factor, and don't think that something as heavy as Ezio can climb a tree silently.

Uh, in the Assassin's Creed-verse, the gun Ezio uses was the first Leonardo ever made. All others came from what he remembered/had taken notes on of the first gun.

Was that a joke? If not, in short, Armstrong is by himself searching the island as he pleases for Ezio.

Yes, the gun Ezio uses was the first Leonardo made, but that was copied from blueprints that Altair had made and Altair used the apple to make the blueprints in the first place. Considering the accuracy, the muzzle velocity, the armour penetration and the reload speed I'd say that that gun is pretty high-tech.

@RAM There may have been a pre-plotted route, but Ezio didn't know about it. Altair does the same thing in the first game, he climbs a really tall tower and waits for his target to pass the road before jumping down about eighty feet and assassinating him.

We're not debating if it's high tech. We're debating if it's high tech enough. I say no, it isn't.

It is accurate enough to be essentially 100% accurate (with a second or two of aiming) and powerful enough to punch through full plate armour, I'd say it is.

High tech enough for what, exactly?

Reload time, ease of aiming, bullet velocity, and penetration. Armstrong is going to be putting a wall in its way, and a second or two of aiming is far too long unless Ezio can predict Armstrong's movements sufficiently in advance to set up an ambush. And the dropping from a building idea is impractical due to the lack of buildings, as stated, a tree is different from a building, and a forest is different from a city. Trees make much more noise and forests make much less, also, tree branches break unpredictably. Ezio cannot take the offensive here.

@FuzzyZergling To kill Armstrong.

@RAM What? A wall? You're confusing me now. My plan was for Ezio to climb a tree or hide in a bush and shoot Armstrong as soon as he sees him.

But the enemy has to be damn close, in terms of the size of this island, and visibility would screw Ezio's aim all to hell.

What he's saying is, if Armstrong believes he's in danger he's going to make a wall, which Ezio's bullets aren't going to penetrate. For all their metal-piercing abilities, his gun's bullets are woefully ineffective against stone.

If Ezio just hides in a bush or climbs a tree then he will never see armstrong, after the first few months of not seeing anything I am sure that Armstrong will build a fortress somewhere, probably reminiscent of D.F. ... Hiding and climbing take time and are noisy, bushes and trees rustle, Ezio needs to get a long way ahead of Armstrong, which means knowing where armstrong is, which means getting close enough to see Armstorng without being detected. Hiding in a bush is not even remotely practical without some explanation of how it is achieved.

I assume that Armstrong would probably clear the forest around him as he moves, so Ezio wouldn't have too many hiding places.

Doubt it, it would be far too much trouble and create too much rubble to hide in.
But as RAM said, just hiding in a tree/bush and hoping armstrong walks under/next to it is completely pointless.
