Missile when it's near him?

1. There's no guarantee it even gets close enough for that to be an issue.
2. If it's close, he can just chop chop chop. Or kick it away and fire, building on Sean's suggestion.

I would presume that Razor could at least remember the "pressurized acid blood" bit. The Alien isn't exactly an unmemorable character. So, kick the thing away and pulverize it from at least a few steps' distance.

ninja-edit: Mini-missiles, from the glovatrix. If he remembers the acid blood, then mini-octopus first to at least push it away, then mini-matchhead to immolate.

But really, that's not the point in the discussion. We can presume that in one-on-one, in the open, the Alien loses against Razor due to intellectual and technological superiority of the latter, with near-equality in physical prowess. The actual point is how the Alien will attack. How did it primarily attack in the first movie, specifically when it was chasing a specific target whose location it knew?

Damn. The alien has nothing to prepare, and Razor has an insane amount of weapons. Boils down to which he takes.

Question here, are the contestants given another research period after winning their fight, or is it just the first three days at the start?
They're given another three days with a list of the contestants who passed the previous round.

Also, I don't recally razor being very sneaky when I watched the show - it seems very likely that the alien will be the one who takes the other by surprise.

Uh, if Razor wears armor environment-specific protection suits, all this will do is burn through it and possibly mess him up a bit. And the Alien will be no less dead when Razor chops it to pieces; or better yet, SHOOTS A MISSILE AT IT.
Since that would be useful against only the alien, i doubt that he would bring one, or wear one for the whole time on the island, since it would be a impediment if he was fighting someone else.
And yeah, the alien would almost definitley get the first attack, and would probably be able to close before razor could use any ranged weaponry (or just spit acid on him)
I don't really know how good razor is in melee, but i suspect that alien would be far better AND razor damaging the alien in melee would probably hurt him just as much (because of the acid blood).

Yes, not very, but not exactly one to charge headlong into the unknown, either. He can hide and sneak, but he doesn't usually find himself in situations where he needs stealth.

So, based on everything, it seems that Alien will indeed attack first. Now the question is, how? In the ship corridors, it could hide on the ceiling and in wall crevices, and attack from the shadows, but it's going to be jungle here. Arguably more places to hide, but also much more light for the most part, and a color scheme that doesn't quite match the pitch-black alien hide. No "easy" way to ambush as well, trees won't hide a clinging xenomorph as well as a ditch would a crouching one, for instance, so mode of attack will be limited to pouncing, or charging. A charge is right out for a successful attack, it will be heard with lots of stuff making noise on the ground. So, a pounce. Ideally, from behind. But no screeching. Does it attack like that in the movies?

I assume that the alien would go ahead of Razor, and set up an ambush from either the treetops or underbrush.

The chances of the alien successfully ambushing him would be significantly in favor of the alien at night, with it being less certain during the day.

Dig in and wait till night? Does Razor have any motion detecting devices?

A device to track warm-blooded creatures was mentioned, but I think a xenomorph is not warm-blooded.

Sorry to say, but you're unambiguously wrong on this one. An environmental suit to protect him from the humidity, any potential weather, etc. would be very useful. To say it's only useful against the alien is tunnel-visoned. And I'm not talking HAZMAT stuff, if that's what you're thinking.
Second, Razor was stated earlier to have a reaction time of about half a second if given warning such as noise. The Alien would hardly get a killing blow at point blank with that kind of speed. And the acid that is spit is apparently used to blind, not erode; Razor's goggles would likely shield him from that vital first shot.
You're also underestimating Razor's abilities, considering his practical veteran status.

Well, the Alien has been able to hide inside of escape pods and attack people as they came in, if that counts. But that's the closest example I can think of.

Dig in and wait till night? Does Razor have any motion detecting devices?

Not to my knowledge, but if he's such a tech genius he might be able to make one. And don't say it's only beneficial against an alien, a motion tracking device would be invaluable in a situation like this, and since he has a spare three days to prepare he'd have the time to make it.

You must remember, a lone alien is very intelligent. Like eating lights and taking on lone humans only.

Would Razor be more likely to go on the offensive, of find a defendable spot and wait?

Also, alien blood and spit melts through titanium and their tails are harder then diamond. I can think of nothing that stopped their blood.
Edit: The alien must have something to prepare. Everyone has a large amount of weapons while all we have are a couple natural ones.

That's something you should have thought about before bringing an only semi-intelligent creature into this contest.

And for the record, acid takes time to eat through material. Razor could toss off the goggles if they get hit.

Lone aliens, mostly drones, become sentient without a queen.
