Oh thanks. I had almost forgotten about the psi dogs.

Now I remember

Fighting while drunk is awesome, though. I saw a video where they played a mod that included vehicles, and he began driving around at full speed after drinking his weight in vodka. His vision blacked out, and when it returned there was a guy impaled through the windscreen.

Not to mention being able to do so while under mind-warping effects of nasties such as Controllers.

If he can resist Controllers and still fight well against all those crazy things while drunk, there are two possibilities in my mind:

1. The psi-effects are weak enough to be shrugged off easily.
2. Strelok isn't a normal human.

Those are the products of normal STALKERs plus PSI Fields.

I just assume that Strelok is marked by the Zone, like Scar.

Strelok has a nice psi-protection helmet, which allows him to survive the highly dangerous psi-fields for a couple minutes.  Those are the really dangerous ones, the Monolith death-to-everything ones.

The other major effect of awesome psi stuff is Monolith, which consists of brainwashed soldiers of the C-Consciousness.  In fact, the C-Consciousness tried to brainwash Strelok just before the start of the game (and failed horribly).  Normal Monolith soldiers are immune to the psi-emitters.  Heck, the brainwashing gives Monolith soldiers a very high pain tolerance.

I thought they were given 3 days to research and prepare for their opponent? If not, I assume Strelok would grab 1 or 2 of the highest-level endurance artifacts (Allowing him to run forever) and a general mix of piercing and rupture protection (i.e. what I take when I go into an area where I don't know what I'm facing, like the X-labs).

Also, I don't get why people think "Tunder 5.45 and Combat Chaser" is an anti-Tidus loadout. Srsly u guyz? Srsly? Its a powerful ironsight assault rifle that remains accurate to huge ranges and fires common, powerful bullets. The Combat Chaser is the best shotgun in the Zone. If I didn't carry 2 assault rifles and a sniper rifle as my main loadout, that's what I would bring.

I suspect the C-consciousness brainscrewing on Strelok has given him a degree of resistance to pain and psionics, thus why he can take shots that would make any enemy stagger without more than twitching at them as well as fight several controllers, which even the game's penultimate badass (in my opinion) died to.

Alright, I'll bite. Who's the game's penultimate badass?

There are 6 or 8 best badasses in the whole game. When you count Badass Normal, you're counting everyone in the zone.

I guess it's Ghost, as he seems to have died to those causes. Oh and here's my list of STALKER Badasses.

Badass Trenchcoat: Scar.
Badass Normals: Strelok, Degtyarev.
Badass Sniper: Yar.
Badass Trader: Sidorovich, Nimble.
Badass Old Guy: Forester.
Badass Bookworm: Kruglov.
Badass: Ghost.

Also, why didn't they make it so he's alive or you could interact with him in some way?
It would be nice to have a AK-47 wielding-mutant-murdering S.T.A.L.K.E.R. being an important NPC.
