Jar Jar!

Obviously the battle will play out as a children's goofy scene that involves Sauron tripping over himself and Jar Jar accidently and clumsily killing him.

Any goofy scene in which someone is accidentally and clumsily killed is bound to be good for children.

I think Sauron falls within the category of people with unreasonable amounts of power.  Jar Jar should win.  Just because.

Yeah, I think I already pointed out that he's basically a lesser god. It took the entire White Council to suppress him at Mirkwood, and two of the members of the Council are beings on his level. Barbarossa himself pointed out that it took a specific weapon to beat him in the movie, the Narsil, and the Silmarillion's Sauron lived in a time of technological advancement. Sooo... yeah.

Sauron was given some fairly specific limitations, I completely forget what they were, but someone who cares should really go back there and look them up...

That's why we're using a toned-down version of sauron. Do you remember at the beginning of the fellowship when he fights in that giant battle? That's what we're using (minus ring immortality). If we use the book version then he would indeed be overpowered. This version is basically a very big man in some very big armour with a very big mace than can hit people from afar.

As for "only narsil can hurt him", I'm not going to accept that. We only see narsil hurt him, because narsil is the only weapon we see hittin him. I'm sure that if another weapon hit him he would be hurt.

As for the shockwave-on-death, Since that would count as a suicide attack, he doesn't get it.

Aye, so is this the Sauron from the start of the movie, or the one from the events of the movie? The Sauron during the movie is even more depowered, essentially, yes, just the big guy with the mace, with the added difficulty of knowing he is mortal.

...

No, not the big flaming eye, the physical Sauron.

The start of the movie, though I'm not sure what you are referring to by "from the events of the movie". If you mean the big eye, no.

The Sauron we're using describes the physical incarnation of Sauron during the events of the movie proper, the one that personally tortured Gollum.

Hmm... this one has an additional disability - the missing finger on his right hand would mess up his grip.

I'm pretty sure he didn't lose just the one finger along with the one ring (hur hur). He'd be missing at least three, if his physical body didn't pretty much disintegrate upon losing the ring. He's probably had the wits to create himself a complete body for reincarnation.

I didn't say Narsil was the only weapon that could cut him, I said it was the only one there that could harm him. Modern weapons are probably just as well made.

I imagine the clearly quite lethal Gungan shock weapons that Jar Jar is allowed will prove effective, even against a deity. And remember, Jar Jar is much more in his element than Sauron is. Sauron leads his armies in open battle, and he's never led a guerrilla mission in his incredibly long life. Jar Jar, however, is an estuary creature at heart. The skills he used to hunt marsh clams and crabs would prove essential in this contest. Sauron's great bulk and heavy armor would allow Jar Jar, whose hearing is quite sensitive, to ascertain his location from a distance, allowing him to get the drop on him.

That said, I still hate Jar Jar.

EDIT: Hmm, movie Narsil doesn't appear to be intrinsically holy the way the book version was, so that's another point against Sauron. He was harmed by an effectively ordinary, if loving crafted, sword.

I believe Jar Jar would win, depending on the terrain. A forest would probably be best, considering Jar Jar would only have to get Sauron to hit a tree a few times and then not notice it falling on him.

Incorrect. He led a nighttime raid on a Numenorean village in his younger days, before he became one of Morgoth's most important servants.

If it wasn't at all magic, how did it stop the ghost sword of the ghostly king down in the Paths of the Dead?

The same way the ghostly king meant to kill Aragorn. 'Twas solid. This doesn't account for the ghost king's surprise, however.

At any rate, the movie sword doesn't display the white flame that it did in the books, sadly. Overt magic is mostly reserved for the bad guys (i.e. the Witch King breaking Gandalf's staff)

---

Wait, he led a nighttime raid? Where in the Silmarillion was this? MY HUNGER TO CORRECT MY GRASP OF LORE MUST NOT GO UNSATISTFIED.

Was he mode locked already by this time? I think he wasn't. So he must have been using his less cumbersome, more elflike form.
