In the movies, anything is possible. If it was a movie, I would say, "WHOA! That explains why his fists cause metal walls to buckle when he hits them!"

Quote from: Barbarossa
Okay, prove to me that Mr. Miyagi got the real medal of honor in the European Theater.
How the hell is that relevant? Just because the writer didn't do his research doesn't mean that it's supposed to be a fantasy world where the laws of reality don't apply.
If something isn't real, the laws of reality can't apply, at least not fully.

That argument is just splitting hairs and pretending to be more then it is.  Suppose I make a movie about a guy named Joe who lives in my neighborhood and works at the Sonic.  Well there isn't a guy named Joe who lives in my neighborhood and works at the Sonic.  Does that mean that Joe is imaginary?  Why yes, yes, it does.  Does that mean Joe has magical powers?

Would Eddie have time to play a solo?

Because he only needs about 5 seconds to play his Facemelter solo.

That's a bit too close for invulnerability for my liking. Not allowed.

To be fair, there are only around half a dozen contestants that don't have some form of energy/magical weapon, guns, or super/magical powers.

ED: and most of them are already dead, to boot

Hold, hooold up.  We're assuming that Riggs gets to make his lightning play on the basis that he sees Miyagi coming.  I'm not experienced enough with either character, but is there anything to suggest that Miyagi would be able to sneak up on Riggs and either paralyse him or just break the god-damned batman guitar before he could do a lightning strike, then incapacitate him before he could draw the axe?

Well, since Eddie is going to be worse off in the forest, and a lot more likely to be sneaked up on, he will avoid any sort of cover, most likely sticking to the beaches, walking around the edge of the island until he finds a stretch of beach with the forest far away and no over cover nearby.

From what I've seen, although Mr. Mayagi would probably win once he gets close enough, getting close enough is a problem - From what I've seen, he can't cover ground very fast. If he tries to approach, Eddie will have time to zap him.

I want other people's opinoins on the above, though.

Well, that line about being going out on stage and not being noticed implies the ability to be stealthy. But the giant axe, loud music, and lightning raining from the sky suggest an unwillingness to remain stealthy for extended periods of time. I suspect that Eddie's location will always be known. I suspect that Eddie will frequently play music, and be too absorbed in it to notice someone sneaking up from behind, regardless of the terrain...

Here is the final boss of Brutal Legend. This is what Eddie is capable of. I think it's safe to say that Mr. Miyagi is no match for a demon lord. And considering Eddie beat THAT...

EDIT: My point is, getting close to him is a really, REALLY bad idea.

That's like saying that only Mario can defeat a goomba because only Mario can do a standing jump of twenty feet and land on their head.

Mr. Miyagi kicks ass at close combat. He is flexible, strong, and agile. He defeated three men half his age and six inches taller than him with his bare hands. Also, note that he did not have to dodge every attack. He merely had to make his opponent miss. An axe swing can easily be deflected by pushing on the haft or the flat of the blade.

Touch the lightning with one hand and use the leg on the same side of your body to ground it, but make sure to have your other limbs higher up. The lightning will pass near harmlessly through you. The only damage will be if you have exceptionally dirty skin, in which case the dirt will burn as the lightning enters and exits.

Targeting lightning? As in heat-seeking lightning? Because that would work almost the same.
