Fish cleaner in a strange mood? FFFFFFF
« on: September 04, 2010, 12:56:12 pm »

Well, I checked the wiki, and it doesn't say what workshop a strange mood-ed fish cleaner wants. His skills are macedwarf, shiield user, armor user, fighter, dodger, fish cleaner, and suturer. None of these seem to be moodable skills. What do I do?

If a dwarf does not have any moodable skills he will claim either a craftsdwarf workshop (if fey, possessed, or secretive mood) or a butcher shop (if fell or macabre mood). Do you have a craftsdwarf workshop?

Fish cleaner sounds liuke he will want to make something with bones/shells,
therefore I think, s well as Khift, that you might need a craftsdwarf workshop

Could have several reasons:
Building site unreachable
Building material unreachable
Building material forbidden
Masons thinking that other jobs have a higher priority
Masons preferring to party/drin/eat/sleep

I already removed the dining hall designation, and the masons are simply "no job," so I don't think that other jobs are a problem.

Do any of you freeloaders have a craft skill enabled? One solution is to turn off all the skills except Craft related ones in two or three of you free dwarfs. Then wait a moment for them to realize that "HEY! We need a new workshop over here!".

They have masonry activated, and are set to no job. I'm pretty sure they would have built something by now if there wasn't a problem.

You should also activate Stonecrafting or any other crafting skill
(and/or Architecture, some workshops require this)

Building a craftsdwarf workshop requires one of the craft skills enabled, not masonry.

When in doubt, hit (q) and place the cursor over the building. That will let you know what labor is needed to make it.

Building a crafts workshop requires at least one craft skill like Stonecrafter or Bonecrafter enabled before they'll do squat. Like I said, pick a freeloader, activated a craft skill (Stonecrafting is the best since they're masons), and enable. They'll happily build for you then.

EDIT: Wow, there's an echo in here...   :o

It would be hilarious if possessed fish cleaners claimed fisheries.

This is an artifact trout.  It is decorated with hanging rings of shad and menaces with spikes of cave lobster.

It would also lead almost immediately to bad thoughts because of art defacement,
as soon as someone tries to eat it

Yeah I got the workshop built... but it seems I'm screwed as he needs plant cloth (needs 15000 threads) and "body parts" (I read that this is turtles shells and bones, which I DONT HAVE. I have rock, though.

I'll probably wall him in.

EDIT: Oh it looks like one ball of yarn counts as 15k thread... well I don'thave turtles anyway
EDITAGAIN: I think he isn't looking for turtle shells because he just ran off. Maybe normal bones?

EDITAGAINAGAIN: Yay he's started on an artifact. Thanks for helping guys
