It's probably made from baby bone, with a handle of baby leather. Probably uses the leg bones wound together for the handle, the pelvis for the handle/pick joint, and the pick is the spine.

But that's all in theory, of course. Not like I've made a pick out of my own 5 month old baby before.

How do they share provisions on embark? Did you allocate points for that too?

Haven't.
I should probably put this in another forum, but anyway:
People select a use for each dorf's 856 remaining points.
Then I will try to keep them all going for as long as possible
Each will be assigned a 23x13 burrow reaching from the topmost z-level to the HFS

I'd say 200 food and drink for each, one training axe each, adequate in axe, armor, shield, weaponsmith, armorsmith, enough steel for a full suit of armor, 5 female dogs, one male, and some cows/bulls.

Hmm, except 200 food + 200 drinks + training axe + anvil + pick = 961 points, leaving me 39 points for the rest of what you listed. Or 139 without the anvil, making the steel useless.

Edit: Current embark:
Each dorf has
No skills
60 cow meat
60 horse mat
60 beer
60 wine
60 ale
60 rum
20 plump seeds
20 pig tail seeds
20 plump cap seeds
20 cave wheat seeds
1 pick
1 training axe
1 iron anvil
with 21 of each edible item unstored and 2 cats

that was just a rough estimate based on what I thought the prices were: I've been working on one fort for several weeks now.

Hm, if you assign 23x13 burrow to each dwarf, someone will get the volcano, while the others... won't. Also, what will you do with migrants?

make your embark have 8 dorfs, 4 male 4 female,  and make them build their own houses, own furniture, food, pets (gl), ect

there will be a communal workshop area

when migrants come, make then build thier own houses, any odd numbers will be culled

hows it sound?

Impossible. 7 Dorfs is hard-coded.

OTOH, you could cull 1 of the starting 7 immediately & do 3 couples, assuming you get enough members of each gender.

Not so. There are various ways to increase it, but not decrease it. Search it on the modding forums.

Where on the embark options in 31.12 is the gender/name change options?

Nobody has the volcano, as It's on the side of a mountain
23*13 by 14 vertically, starting around the embark point.
The embark site is something like 100 z-levels above the volcano
Migrants are assigned to a 20*40 burrow at the foot of the mountain
Is there any way to forbid some dorfs from doing something but not all dorfs?
Turn them into hauler slaves.
Each has a BURROW containing supplies for each and the 23*13*14 area
If someone would tell me how to change genders/add more embark dorfs, I will re-embark with a revised set of starting items. searching the modding forums leads to very few answers.

You could use Runesmith to kill off a dwarf and then change the genders as you see fit.

If I set an ungodly number of caves and a massive year count, is it possible to make your dorfs the last seven?
or will thy be gone outright?
