Fortifications: destroyed in magma?
« on: September 03, 2010, 09:26:11 pm »

So I put fortifications in the path of magma for various reason.
Said magma destroyed said fortification, leaving nothing behind.
The fortification was made out of obsidian. Also, it was constructed.
So, the question is:
Are fortifications always destroyed in magma?

It works.  Look in the Wiki for magma safe materials and any of them should work, including obsidian.  Go into "k" mode and select the square with the fortification, maybe it's hiding in the magma.

Another way to do this is to use native stone, by smoothing it, then carving fortifications into it.  Anything is magma safe that way.

I checked using 'k' already.
I noticed that it turned the fortification into a constructed floor...

The present understanding is that fortifications are never destroyed in magma; I used to put it through wooden fortifications just to show off.
If it's changed, show us a video.

I've passed magma through constructed fortifications dozens of times and whenever I've checked it, the fortification was still there - past a certain point I accepted that it's safe to do this and stopped looking.  Never had a problem like this.

You said it left a constructed floor... are you sure you didn't just accidentally build the wrong one? After all, one is b-c-f, the other is b-c-F, easy to slip up...

Were these constructed fortifications, or dug fortifications?

I am 100% sure
