Godhood. A game where the players ascend to Godhood, creating a universe an eventful vast world from the essence of Gods.

OOC Thread
Godhood Wiki

If you're a completely new player, and you're interested, you should take a deep breath and be patient before joining up. Try reading the Godhood I Thread and then this thread to get a feel for the game.
Proper spelling and grammar are a must.

If you still feel like joining up, fill in the God template that you can find in the OOC Thread and post it on the OOC Thread, also sending me a copy in a PM to avoid cluttering up this one. In case there are any doubts about the rules, ask in the OOC Thread, or look on the Godhood Wiki as soon as the rules are up.
The few rules there are can be stretched very far, but remember that there are indeed boundaries!

Note: I expect at least a little seriousness. (But not too much, I'm not sane enough to take that.) Toady's Dwarf Fortress level of seriousness would be just about right. Use common sense.
Have fun and treat the other players with respect.

Godly intuition, subconscious knowledge, inherited purpose: The birth of an Overgod. Inside the endless essence with its endless possibilities something shifts, something changes. A bubble is formed, which in kind is endless, yet finite. A universe. Time, still meaningless, passes quickly yet ever so slowly, and eventually, the subtle chaos that stirs everything makes a slightest change. In the middle of the new universe, energy packs together, around an invisible point. Invisible, yet evidently there. Time slithers its way through the other dimensions, and eventually there is a bright light. The energies split into two things, one physical, and one neither ethereal nor substantial entity. From this Womb of light and energy a being emerges, neither ancient nor new. The universe darkens once more as the light of birth dims, absorbed by the endless void. The Womb that gave birth to it burns, until time decides that this light too should be dimmed. From the smoldering ashes a phoenix rises, a being of great power..

Having escaped from the womb this new entity proves to yet be incapable of making rational decisions. Subconscious processes envelop a grip over the mind of the mysterious being and brings her to move.
Darkness- Cold- Emptiness are her motivation. Light- Warmth- Creation are her motive. The universe is engulfed in flame, consumed by light, and filled with the birthplace of another Goddess, bathing in the flames of a fiery ball. A moment of consciousness, a moment of wisdom: "Phera."
With the birth of the sun Phera another Goddess is born. When light caresses The Womb, an even greater part of it is embraced by shadow, giving birth to another God: "Tass" The entity rests, tired. The jaws of time take a bite of the universe, and a vast slumber keeps the newborn Gods in deep slumber.

Phera moves, slowly, revolving around The Womb. A snake of day and night bites its own tail, as the light Phera radiates spreads over the surface of The Womb's lifeless, rocky and rough body. Millions of these cycles pass until the Overgoddess awakens again. With her awakening, the lowlands on the vast planet start filling up. Cycles pass continuously, and eventually, this great ocean, Amparos, divides The Womb into many large landmasses. On the bottom of this great ocean another figure rests, by the same name as the mass of liquid.

She gasps. There is yet another thing missing. For a moment, the universe waits.

Waves, hurricanes and storms rage over the land, polishing the rocks, torturing the surface of the rocky planet. The Womb suffers terrible blows, horrible cuts and on the mountains rivers form. Time does its work, and as the planet got closer and closer to being breathable, the storms died down, and a cycle of the water was formed. From sea to air, from air to rain, from rain to rivers and lakes, from rivers to sea. During the last of these great storms a woman falls from the sky and onto The Womb, unconscious even before she hits the ground. The slumber gets a grip on this Goddess, this Kastheen.

Some events are magical. Some events rely on the power of the Essence. The Storms of Kastheen were among those. For with such powerful storms to exist, magic had to act as fuel, as catalyst. And when those storms swept across the land, The Womb itself was imbued with magic, enchanted. Two men fell from the sky as the storms died down, both without memory, both on the same landmass as their sister, they were the Gods of Magic and Enchantments, for without those a world would be a shadow of what it could be.

Time blew its poisonous breath at the universe. For those Gods, in their magical slumbers, it passed quickly. For The Womb, it took forever. She was shaped, melted, knit and eventually formed into paradise- Lifeless paradise.
The Overgoddess acted on ancient instincts, unbeknownst to herself. The planet turned, the equator moved up in relation to Phera. Only a few cycles of light and darkness passed, before the first snow fell, slowly, calmly, upon the surface of the planet. Buried underneath layer upon layer of snow and ice a figure rested. The Lord of Winter slumbered peacefully.

This time the ancient Goddess did not rest. This time she knew what would happen, as memories of unknown origin were whispered into her mind. Another titan was born, and with it were the mundane beings, a pair of every kind, sleeping in quickly growing forests and plains. As the Goddess' spirit was drawn from the planet, to rest with the other Gods.

As the Goddess rested, the mortal life on the world woke up, starting their lives. First the herbivores woke from their slumber, and then, when their numbers had grown, those that would eat them followed. They grew in numbers, they grew in kind, and as the first creature died, a small fish, consumed by a carp, two more slumbering titans were born, both Gods of Death.

Hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of cycles passed, the world was in balance, peaceful, true paradise. This is when the Gods wake up. This is where these Titans, first of their kind, start their legacies, and with those, the legacy of the world.

Amparos woke slowly. He had a mind aeons old, but these were his first real, focused thoughts. First he became aware of his surroundings, even though he could not fully understand them at first. Then he sensed the ocean - his namesake, though he wasn't sure how he knew that. He knew he had been there as long as the great mass of water. Cold, hard land met his exploring mind in some places, and the rivers racing upwards inland did not fully belong to him. But the ocean was vast, and it would do for now.
Deciding on a course of action, he called it's inhabitants to him, a wide variety of aquatic life.

First came the depth-lurkers, great bizarre beasts with transparent skin and tentacles. Quick, focused predatory fish followed, and swarms of smaller creatures. When he was satisfied, beings from all areas of the sea were present. They swarmed around him, curious but not entirely trusting.

Amparos thought for hours before he spoke. ' I am the ruler of the sea, little creatures. Acknowledge my position as your rightful lord and master.'

The creatures heard him, but few reacted in any way. They were simple animals, without a hint of sentience. Some came closer, but they did not understand when he tried to continue.

Amparos let them go, and they spread all over the seas again, the hunters attacking the smaller ones. He grabbed one, and cut it open with a simple move. Blood flowed into the water, which he drank gladly. He ripped off the skull off the thing, and pulled the teeth off, one by one.

Next he took some of the rock on the ocean floor and shaped it into a staff, and the teeth into the tip of a spear. He granted the weapon an essence of his power. Soon he would see the world beyond the sea, and he did not know what dangers lurked there. Protection was needed.

Amparos creates Ecaras, a spear full of divine energy

The Winter Lord awakens.

Born of ice, and now aware.

His gaze cracks the ice around him; his fleeting whim stirs the snow. He is the bite of the wind, and the chill in your bones. When he moves, the glaciers quake and blizzards brew above.

Far to the north, an ancient glacier splits asunder as the Winter Lord is freed from his slumber. As yet a formless presence, he surveys the lands around him.

"Yes... this will do nicely."

But the Winter Lord noticed something lacking. There was life aplenty, even in the barren northern reaches, but neither the birds nor the wolves nor the owls and trees acknowledged his existence. He needed something else... something intelligent. Something sentient.

The Winter Lord, troubled by these thoughts, turned to his domain and gathered one hundred of the strongest wolves in all the arctic. Upon the wolves he wove an enchantment, his icy power flowing into them and twisting their shape. A great storm grew above, and crashing lightning split the mountains. A swirling blizzard swept clear the valley, felling trees and scouring stone until a broad, flat clearing remained. 100 confused Northren stood in the middle of the snowy valley, men and women born of the northern wolves and hardy as mountain bears, quick as silver foxes. A feral, tribal people who wear only the skins of what they kill. They still had the hunting instincts of the wolves they were born of, but tempered by the intellect of man.

Exhausted, the Winter Lord sank below the ice to wait as his children discover the wide new world.

The Lord of Winter creates the Northren, children of the wolf. They resemble humans, though with pale grey hair and flashing blue eyes. They are athletic and cunning, but yet savage and ignorant of the world. They know only that they were created from wolves, born in a great winter storm, and the valley is their home.

Endras awakened in an instant, his mind racing to explore the world he found himself in. There was magic here, yes... but it had no focus, no purpose. This would not do.

The Mage stretched out his hands and gripped the untamed magic of this new world, molding it into a more useful form. The magic bent to his will, shaping itself into a grid of lines across the world, but this change was merely cosmetic. The true potential of the lines is revealed only where they intersect, their elemental magics warping the land around them. At these points magic takes physical form as a rainbow fountain, the waters of which can be manipulated by any sentient being to work magic, though the control is difficult without practice.

Endras creates wellsprings of magic, points of power at which magic takes on physical form.

The Lord of Death awake, feeling the darkness in the hearts of other Gods and immediatly realized that he needed a place  where he could live  far from the evil gods..He grabbed obsidian from The Womb and make palace for him, then he created thousands of rooms and very big rooms, where his future army will spar.He surrounded everything with an energy barrier, only possible to bypass by  his followers.

The Lord of Death creates Draxion, and extensive complex  orbiting The Womb, who will serve as morade for him, dead souls and his followers

Slowly, the darkness faded, a pale blue sky stretched out before him. He waited, his sight still blurry, until it finally turned sharp.
Slowly he began to hear sounds of a calm breeze flowing through the trees. He heard the sound of birds singing through the woods.
Then, slowly, he felt he was lying on the ground. He tried to move but without succes.
Suddenly, he was able to sniff up the smell of the forest. A lovely smell full of life.
Next, he felt a powerful wave rush through his body which was now able to move.
He turned his head left and right. He saw that he was lying on a small open field in the middle of a forest.
He stood up and looked around him, and while doing this, he noticed the symbols on his body, which he began to look at.
After a couple of minutes he slowly walked into the woods, looking at every single plant, tree and animal he came across.

… I am…

This was the first thought that came to the slumbering mind. The time of dreams was drawing to a close. She had dreamed long, ghostly images of falling to a rough, rocky world, phantom visons of storms, rain, cloudy and sunny days, thousands upon thousands passing within instants, spectral visages of life growing around her, covering the hill with grass and plants. But now her mind’s eye was finally turning from the timeless series of visions and images. Dreams faded, and visions were forgotten.

I am Kastheen.

The thought returned, clearer and determined. Sensation flooded her mind, and her eyes opened. She felt her back and wings upon the damp grass where she had slept. She saw the grey canopy of clouds above, and the rain falling down towards her to gently rinse her face and body. She heard the howl of the wind as it blew mist hither and yon. She smelled the air, moist and cleaned by the falling rain. She smiled, pleased with the storm heralding her waking.

Slowly, she stood to her feet, and held out her hands to the storm, spreading her wings of mist wide. The mighty wings flapped, and she began to lift up from the ground. Eagerly, she flew into the storm, feeling the fury of nature around her. She soared through the clouds darting to and fro in the grey mists, chasing bolts of lightning through the clouds. She laughed as she glided through the storm.

But eventually, it began to feel hollow. She had seen birds and animals and insects, but none intelligent. No one else able to recognize the beauty of the storm. Or indeed, even comprehend it. Kastheen began to feel lonely. There was no one else here able to enjoy the storm. But soon on the heels of the loneliness was a determination. She felt power in her limbs, potential in her mind and being. If there was no one else, then she will make someone else. She looked among all the creatures of the world she was born into.

She selected a small group of grey feathered birds that frolicked in the rain. She flew down to them, and they up to her. She put forth her will, and the birds began to change. Their form grew changed to a more humanoid, upright position. Their heads shifted to accommodate a larger brain to house a sentient mind. Their faces still bore the curved beaks of birds of prey and the large eyes keen for vision, but otherwise became like Kastheen’s own. Their wings grew fingers and thumbs at the second joint of the wings, so they might be able to use tools if they wished. Their feet retained the scales and talons that they had in their earlier life, but their legs were more upright, if still reverse jointed. On their body, the grey feathers grew thin, but upon the top of the head, they became long like hair. The Mayura were born.

Kastheen flew into the air again, and the Mayura flew with her. They were not a perfect creation, but they could appreciate the beauty of the storm with her. Later, she would make improvements to the race, but for now she was tired. She was content to simply fly through the air and enjoy life with her new creations.

Kastheen created the Mayura, a race of bird people with long grey feathers for hair and a shorter covering of feathers over their bodies, large eyes and sharp curved beaks, and small hands on the second joint of their wings. They also have scaled feet like a birds, complete with talons, and reverse jointed knees.

Chaos. A great storm of magic whirled around magus as he is born, one of the twin gods of magic. He begins to work. Feeling Endras' work of ordered magic, he moves to the nearest node. Here he begins to shape his power, glowing symbols drifting from him, describing his spell, drawn from the magic of the very world around him: {[Birth, Creation, Forge][Thought, Magic, Sentience][Creature, Bird] [Flame, Life, Heat]} and before him, a winged flame begins to emerge, formed  by his will and the runes which come from within him. These would be his creatures, the first to which he will teach his magic, who shall spread it to those he deems worthy. He reaches out to the god who created these fonts of magic, and attempts to commune with him. "Greetings, I have seen your works. I wish to speak with you."

The Psychopomp opened his eyes. He observed the Womb, and the various creatures that flew, crawled and swam across its surface. He spun divine energies extracted from the very fabric of his existence, and decided to begin his work.

He spun threads of shadow and of night into tangible, living forms, and breathed life into the being.

Death creates the Guides, beings that exist to guide the dead of sentient beings to the next realm of existence.

"We two gods are created from the same [Seed, Origin, Birthplace] the same primal force: [Magic, Energy, Chaos, Order] Here, This is [wild, chaotic, uncontrolled] it helps noone. I would proposition that we work [Together, United] to give [shape, form, order] to that which has none. To this end, I would recommend we form some sort of lesser [Group, Circle, Guild] and attempt to instill them with a portion of our [power, authority, command] over that which is [Immaterial, Etherial, Magic] as even with the power of gods, we cannot hope to completely control the boundless energies of this world, created as it was so recently by [Birth, Universe, Overgodess]. What say you?"

"Perhaps. Our power means little without mortals to wield it, no different from any other miracle. But I suggest we wait for now. We must conserve our energy, and be careful to give magic only to those who have earned it. We must give them some time to grow on their own... and then we Act."

Aarseral was thinking about the place he was in.
It was full of life which means it was perfect, but...
Something was missing...
Suddenly a deer jumped out of the forest and looked his way.
He knew what was missing in his life, intelligence.
No beast in the whole forest had more than basic instincts.
Like this deer standing right in front of him.
The deer jumped into the forest again.

Aarseral gathered his godly powers.
A blinding light shining from his skin, he formed two new beasts;
They looked like lizards but were several metres long and stood one metre tall.
walking on four legs and having a brown skin, they had powerful jaws, razor sharp teeth and claws, but also a thumb-like fifth finger.
But the most important thing was that they were intelligent. They would be able to communicate with each other by talking and many other possibilities would open up for them. They were because of this able to do great things in the future.
If they got the chance for it...

Exhausted by what he just did Aarseral sat down against a tree.
leaning on the tree, he sees his creations walk into the forest... 'I call them, Fologorh...'

Aarseral creates the Fologorh. They look like lizards but are several metres long and stand one metre tall.
walking on four legs and having a brown skin, they have powerful jaws, razor sharp teeth and claws, but also a thumb-like fifth finger.
But the most important thing is that they are intelligent.

Amparos decided he had explored his realm long enough. It was time to see the outside world. The surface of the water called to him, and he answered that call.

The journey up was not long for him, but breaching up through the surface seemed to take forever.

The familiar, comforting waters disappeared, and Amparos found himself blinking at the unforgiving sun and felt the bite of the winds on his skin. The sky, in some ways a mirror of the great ocean, stretched forever to all directions. Cold, jagged cliffs arose from the sea some distance away, and behind them flat plains with little life of any kind.
So this was the outside world? It did seem quite impressive, though the ocean depths were naturally a much greater.

He felt the divine spark all around him, though faint; the Overgoddess had left her mark there. And... high in the sky, winged creatures; creatures with the spark of sentience, but made by someone else.
Yes, of course... it had been foolish to think other beings like him didn't exist. He needed to meet his kin as soon as possible.

' I am Amparos, ruler of the great seas. I call you, sibling, creator of the sky-people.'
he proclaimed to the strong winds, somewhat unsure if he would get a response at all.
