What were your thoughts when you first played DF?

Oh my god! you can get LIMBS and other things cut off!Awesome!

Those were my first thoughts

My thoughts after that were "You have to DRINK, sleep and eat!?!? Awesome"

After embarking I just thought "WTF?!" and quit.
Then I didn't touch it for a month until I read some cool stories and tutorials about DF :D

 I love digging out the mountain.  I have no idea how to feed or cloth or make stuff. But it sure is fun designing the fort.

my first thought was: wow this is more complex then adom. second was yay its finally the game I wanted to create. Now my thoughts are this will be the game i wanted to create

Wait, it says I need beds to build beds?  What the fuck?  (This was before learning what workshops were, of course.)

My first thought was  "Where are the elephants?"  This was directly after reading Boatmurdered.  I didn't actually find any elephants that game, but I did come across several carp...
