I didn't really want to start a new thread for this, but there are no poetry, song lyric, or other such creative threads running right now that I can find, and
this is not a haiku (or a limerick). So it was either this or necro one of the old Dwarven Drinking song threads. I can
definitely imagine dwarves drinking to this, possibly as badly done kareoke in a back room or something.
Inspired by the thread about the
2000+ z-level adamantine spire into the very heavens. It's real embark, but not playable - I gather that a glitch stretched the adamantine so high that it "loops" back "underground" (an infinite amount of times?). So this is all from
mine own imaginings the imaginings of a moony dwarf, thinking of the Utopia where dwarves can dig UP. FOREVER. WHOOOOAH!
There's a Dwarf on a road
all Adamantine and cold
And she's carving a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows
It's Economy:NO
With no coins she'll still get royal bedrooms
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
And she's carving a stairway to heaven
It's engraved in the wall
But she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes they have
Two meanings
In a tree by the brook
There's a cage trap that springs
The best plans always am-
-bush ridden
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it makes me wonder
There's a feeling I hate
When I dig-designate
But my miner is Dying
or Drinking
In failed traps I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
In the brushfires are Dwarves
Who went looting
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it really makes me wonder
And it's whispered that soon
We'll make Heavens Spitoon
with a pump stack that loads up the Weapon.
And a new day will dawn
For Dwarves who stand strong
As the forests elves
Melt in the Magma
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, ooh, whoa, oh
If there's an ambush in the hedgerow
Sound the alarm now
And do a spring clean
For the Dwarf Queen!
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But that's the long one
Pull levers to change
The road you're on
And it makes me wonder
Aw, uh oh!
Siege-Goblins milling, and they won't go
In case you don't know
The Fighters call on you to join them
Dear lady, do you fear the arrows blows?
And did you know
Your stairway lies open to the wind?
--ROCK Solo-- (*badum PSSH*)
And back we climb up the sky-road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks the miner we all know
Who carves blue light and wants to go
to Adamantine Heaven's Doors
And if you listen very hard
The truth will come to you at last
When it's all done then one will know
To feed Ar-MOK the blood must flooooow
And she's carving a stairway
To heaven...
