SOOO! We don't need to choose. You see, if we use metamancy as the base, instead of cryomancy, we get a freebie. You see, we can halve all our other skills as bonuses. Mechamancy, Technologic, Alchemy, Psionics are all at ~11 so: 4(11/2)=22. Cryomancy is at 21, so 10.5 bonus ranks there (22+10.5=32.5), then our actual Metamancy is at 13, so 32.5+13=45.5. More than enough to get guarenteed roles, so we can use the 20's for super awesome island, and a damn hefty Metamancy bonus.

You find a...thing floating above the town, right where you'd been planning to make the island. you can't actually tell what it is, it keeps changing colors and shapes.

You crack it.
Theres a massive blast of light and sound, and some other kind of shockwave goes through you as you get knocked off your frozen piece of water.

Ugh, what happened? why does everything feel so pliable? whats the glowing stuff floating everywhere in your tower?

Oh yeah. the...thing. and the light and the crazy sounds and the weird-feeling shockwave and the falling and the...dirt? That explains the roof. Doesn't explain how the dirt is floating outside or the rest, though. Ugh. too much for you to deal with with such a headache. you go back to sleep.

You jump-walk-float to near the island. It looked odd because the anomaly was still there and it was causing somekind of illusional island. you metamance it away, and the island appears, much more Epic.
