closer to 30, really. most of the fakers either dropped out or got used for horribly miscast transformation spells/alchemizations.

There were 6 people in the town/village with any sort of magical capabilities. We drove one insane. We then made one antimana. This leaves 4. We would be dissecting 1 to make a point. This leaves 3, not 30.

Are we stealing them from their parents the moment they are born? I doubt that it has been years since we set up the school. However, that brief stint in the metaphysical plain may have taken longer than we perceived...

No, the time brokeness period stole them from their parents before their parents had parents. Thankfully, the now un-screwed(:P ::)) alternate future is easier to ignore than if it had affected the past instead.
the fakers were just stupid peasants who wanted free food.
