What is this?

The description isn't very helpful:

I think it's an euphemism. Merchants were such in a hurry and had no time to stop and pee... but they had a nice barrel!
And then - they thought - 'Let's sell this barrel to those ugly dwarves!"

This happens in vanilla, I've seen it several times on unmodded games.  It's just a strange bug.

Known bug. I believe it's actually the material component of something (I forget what) that isn't supposed to exist as raw material, but sometimes traders bring it along with all that blood you can't do anything with.

I thought so too, but I'm fairly sure this shows up correctly. I can't remember for sure, but I am 92% sure I've seen liquid fire appear correctly in a screenshot somewhere.
