Left 4 Dead games are a bit bland, due to the extremely weak horde zombies to the overpowered special zombies and the extremely powerful guns and AIs with aimbots.

The Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control 2) is definitely worth a playthrough (or five). The original music is just amazing and the story's really in-depth. The bad guys (the Ur-Quan, Kzer-Za & Kohr-Ah) actually don't feel like bad guys to me, rather aliens who are afraid of everyone and simply wish the best for their race. You're probably going to need to look at non-spoiler hints, because you probably will get bored of running around in space trying to find out what to do next. Non-spoiler because the game really surprises you at times and you don't want to spoil the experience, just like you don't want to spoil Dwarf Fortress's Hidden Fun Stuff!

It's always amusing when I play as a charger and I knock every survivor into an instant death area.

Doom 1 & Doom 2 because they are just plain awesome.You will have to use Dosbox to install them and Skulltag to play them

Wolfenstein 3D & Spear Of Destiny because they are both awesome.You will need Dosbox to run them

Duke Nukem 3D because it is awesome.You will need Dosbox or a Duke Nukem emulator to run it.

They are all FPS's if you wanted to know.

There are programs which can fix that.

Some people have made a HRP version of Duke Nukem and Doom, but i don't know about wolfenstein. They probably did.
