best tactic I've found so far is shield + haste + spamming lightning bolt, kills pretty much every enemy in one. Occasionally throw down some freezing landmines just to slow them down and clear the area a bit

-snip-
best tactic for what?
simply lightning without wet enemies are rather poor mostly due to range but the damage is also rather low i comparison to other things.
Multiple weak enemies in one direction - qfasas (steam lightning ray)
Multiple weak enemies spread out but near - qrqrqrqrs (arcane ice shotgun)
Any 'pushable' foe near ledge - q*5 (do this to the ones before grimnir)
Any large foe - qfasas at range.
right. qfasas made things a bit duller so throw in some other things just for fun

I tried arcane ice shotgun, but I think lightning does a bit more damage + minor electrical stun/interrupt on some enemies

You can't use Death on bosses. He just kills you instead even if you lowered their hp a lot. Keep that in mind...

Also, I finally figured out how to kill Fafnir in singleplayer mode. They even buffed him too in the recent patch @.@ Basically, I enchanted my sword with shield + 4xlightning, and cast the line of lightning at his stomach. Then hid in a corner. Repeated about two times and he was defeated. So much freaking easier than trying to time his fireballs and superlaserbeam.

Then of course, I see the ultimate final boss.... I really don't think singleplayer is intended to be able to defeat him...

I have to say that summon elemental in challenge mode is gamebreakingly OP. There doesn't seem to be any limit and just making arcane elemental hordes is unstoppable. They take a lot of pressure of you, do decent damage, block mob enemies and the best part, they heal with any type of arcane damage (AKA ALL BEAMS) and therefore, never die.

I can get Nyarl Assatur down to half health singleplayer, but that enveloping lightning attack always takes me out, and the bastard heals himself quickly.
EDIT: Hell yes, just beat him. My tactics were

Maybe it's just the cheese tactics I use, but I didn't really have any trouble with any boss other than Death.

It's fun but it seems to leak memory and get choppy after a while, also my screen flashes purple and the UI gets messed up.

Wrong. I oneshotted Fafnir with death, and used him several times in a row (while flubbing the story spell) on the near-last boss.

A lot of bosses seem to have a built in cheese tactic.

The first boss for example can be quite tough, and by tough I mean long, but can be easily defeated with shields.

Speaking of an apparent cheese tactic....

As a side note, I'm really enjoying the whole second half. I was kind of left thinking "man, there's so much they didn't cover."

And then I hit the pure awesome that is Chapter 9.
