Well, despite knowing this I'm still going to keep playing. I am a bad person and I should feel bad.

Its a fun game, I used to play. Theres lots of other things to do other than combat as well, like trading, riding dragons and being on ships. Also, the DIKU mud thing is where Vryce (the creator) apparently used the code but does not mention it and gets money for it. I say don't worry about it.

This is what he eventually wants to do:

I could swear there was a post about this a year ago...hmm.
I shall restart this, never actually got far.

Wooo. Features list is epic. A giant 37 room big slug that is controllable by a hero? FFFFFF. Why didn't I get addicted to this before?

Shit... I was avoiding getting back into HellMOO; and this sounds just epic enough to pull me over.

Quick question though, is it free-to-play? I hear these issues with the DIKU code, so I am wondering if there is a subscription, unbalanced micro-trans or something similar?

I think it's 100% free.

Does that slug happen to live in the desert? And can you make human-proximity sensitive knives from one of its crystalline teeth...?

Also; will eating its shit make me capable of conceptualizing the space-time continuum?

I shall try this. So are we going to gather and build up money to afford a clan or something?

Hopefully, but reading "Help clan" will show you just how much it takes. It ain't pretty.

If you find me, I'll try and help you as much as I can.
Type in "Player Zarikor" to see if I'm online and type "Link Zarikor" to tell me you're online.

Type in "Link" to enter Medlink then type "tele Zarikor <message>"

HOLY SHIT THAT THIRD POST IS EPIC.
It'd be even more epic if I could remember all the shout messages. Like during our PK ship battle.
"RED ALERT, RED ALERT, SHIELDS UP WEAPONS ONLINE!!!"
"AWOOOOOO GA! AWOOOOOO GA!"
"INCOMING FIRE FROM OUT PORT SIDE, PROTECT YOUR POOPERS!"
"EVASIVE MANEUVERS!"
"I CAN'T DIE HERE! I HAVE LAKERS TICKETS!"
"I NEED MORE POWER TO THE ENGINES!" (Signal to cast the ship speed boost spell)
"RAMMING SPEED! PREPARE TO RAPPEL BORDERS!"

And so on.

A part of me (quite a large part to be honest) is turned off by the idea of donations for in game items/perks.

I remeber this was actually my first mud which i played about 3 years ago. Good times I had.

Dont worry, its only needed if you want to be the best of the best in PvP when your a high level

Holy crap, this is engrossing. I signed up as drakestone, a mage. A firestorm just started over the guild, I'm amazed. I've never really stuck to an MUD before, but this may just do it for me.

So that's why you've been taking so long to level .
You'll just have to pester them every 5-10 minutes or so.

I don't really like it either, but on the bright side, you're highly unlikely to meet anyone who has any donation equipment unless they've been playing for several years, unless they're the kind of people who are flush with money.
