In addition to anything else that comes up in your readthrough, could you answer this: what di you think your assist would have been (not knowing Orgs alignment)?
I'd have assisted Org. Neither of them seemed useful, but Org was at least helpful as Org goes, and Solifuge seemed arrogantly adamant that he was helpful, when he wasn't really contributing much.
At the risk of screwing myself over yet again, I feel inspired to share this:
Vector, as scum, would have had nothing to gain from supporting me against Org. The safe thing to do would have been to "see the logic behind Jim's argument" and hop in line. However, she instead went out on a limb, supported the less-popular Arena Candidate, and so on, taking a reputation hit along with it (for the appearance of buddying) and so on.
Yes, it could have been a scum ploy to get me to want to trust her... but that would be a terrible choice, since the cost of one player's trust would be significant suspicion from half of the town. As Cabal, she'd surely have seen that, and gone with whatever earned her the most favor from the most players. Thus, I'd posit that she is most likely Tower.
I
really don't like this, and I'm thinking
Solifuge needs to get back in that ring. He's trying to clear
Vector based on the notion that everyone was ganging up on him, and scum wouldn't go against that so she must be Tower. Several problems apply.
For starters, they had a perfectly even number of assists, so I don't see where he's getting the idea that he's the less popular combatant to begin with. The notion that she "went out on a limb" to assist him, when she was
the very first assist, strikes me as some melodramatic attempt at making himself out to be some persecuted hero.
Secondly, the idea that she took or risked a "reputation hit" to aid him seems ludicrous- she looked like she was buddying for her
comments and the lightning speed with which she assisted, not the simple fact that she did so. Ottofar aided Solifuge too, he's not accused of buddying or suddenly confirmed Tower.
Vector, for her part, declared Solifuge to be scum, saying she "felt it in her bones."
What follows:
General question for all (answer at your leisure):
- There are benefits and costs to each affinity. What is the most powerful Elemental Affinity, in your mind?
From a strategic perspective I'm digging Fire, as one basic Fire Attack Assist would boost your Attack by +4 (a specialist would grant +6). Weighing Attack Power versus Speed, it doesn't matter how many attacks you can get in, if you can't overcome your opponent's Defenses. A higher Attack means better odds of punching through shields, and a more reliable damage output overall. The cost in the most powerful Healing Assists is a small one, since Healing seems to play a bit role in combat.
I feel a difference in my bones. Though in general I'm not a gut-player, this time I feel something. There is a difference. Not one that I can establish via some large body of evidence, but I sense that something new is there.
I feel a difference on my right knee. Though in general I'm not a sentimental person, this time I feel something. There is a difference. One that is established via some small body of sleeping kittenishness, and I sense that something friggin' adorable is there.
Unvote. You now sound like an irritated townie, which clears my suspicions for the nonce.
Soo... Ottofar, what do you think about this game thus far? Has anyone jumped out at you as particularly scummy?
He presents a "discussion topic" and talks about his kitten and suddenly he's an irritated townie? Those are some waffling bones.
For that matter, presenting a discussion topic (as he calls it later) is not scumhunting, and Vector's been unusual as well.
Vector is that a egg or a rock?
Also you know who else likes to have high dex? Rouges. And Rouges are chaotic. Why do you like chaos so much?
Unvote Criptfeind. Good answer.
It's an emu egg, of course--all my avatars are edible.
I don't like chaos. I'm strictly law-aligned.
For my other pick... I think that Janus is town, and it feels like Criptfeind is scum. Why? Well:
Vector is that a egg or a rock?
Also you know who else likes to have high dex? Rouges. And Rouges are chaotic. Why do you like chaos so much?
Shades of stupid OMGUS.
It just seemed really odd that you would do something that is going to help the scum way more. Although you did not in fact ask for it there is no way you were not fishing. In fact even if people really genuinely talked strategy it would not help at all.
Sounds like he's trying to stifle discussion, to be honest. He made way too big a deal out of Solifuge's question, while ignoring Toaster's equivalent query.
She unvotes Criptfeind based on his "good answer," then says he OMGUS'd her and votes him again.
Jim Groovester was also going after both of them, and was silenced. I realize NK WIFOM is a dangerous thing to read into, but Solifuge doesn't look like the subtle type and Vector is known for vengeance.
More relevantly, both voted each other and then backed off without much cause. This was largely during RVS, but it still looks to me like they were trying to tag each other to avoid suspicion.
