The Baby Launcher
« on: August 31, 2010, 02:37:23 am »

I've constructed a gigantic execution tower, the top of which has two different bridges with levers attached, and they drop into the moat.

So far, I've launched five babies with it, as they keep crawling up to check out what it does and while they're looking at it, I pull the lever and they fly.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be launched into my moat.

I'm trying to figure out how exactly to weaponize this. There must be a way.

If it is Magma safe just have it drop magma :) remember There nothing you can't do with magma.

Your not playing Dwarf Fortress right if you don't see a message saying a Kitten (tame) had died in some horrible manner over and over again.

I have been playing for 9 months and have yet to find a single TILE of magma, so I've given up. My plans now involve figuring out how to fling infants at my enemies in such a way as to kill them.

Baby Launcher also works with cats.

Assuming you're playing 2010, magma is at the very bottom (z-wise) of your map, beneath the third cavern layer.

And, alas, flung projectiles do no damage. If you're really dedicated to baby bombs you could mod dwarf blood to be a toxic vapor.

Bad plan. Then every battle will kill everyone in it.
Mod kitten blood instead.

There are many issues with this statement.

Not if you set the syndrome to only affect goblins. :P

Fire your soldiers in this fashion as a means of rapid mobilization. Take the fight to them, boys!

Use only one dwarf per battle at a time. Also, is it still possible to make frost bombs by setting the boiling point of a fluid to some absurdly low number?

Red Alert style :D
Damnit, this is a FUCKING great idea! The dwarves have invented a system of rapid transport that surpasses the ones we have in the XXI century

I have to test it yet, but wouldn't body parts fly with lethal force after hapless creature contacts with the ground?

Theoretically, sure. But the game doesn't consider damage from projectiles that aren't fired directly from a weapon (or chucked by an adventurer).
