Anyone willing to find out whats underneath hell?

You simply can't go beneath Hell.  There's nothing there -- literally, below a certain (negative) z-level, the game world simply doesn't exist.  You can't dig channels, downward staircases, or downward/upward staircases on the lowest Z level you're allowed, even if you make it possible to mine slade, and anything thrown into a glowing pit is obliterated.  It's an instant death for an adventurer; if your adventurer can fly, you just aren't allowed to go into the pit.  It's just like the lowest Z level in 40d.

Dwarf Fortress: The only game where you break into hell just to dump garbage in the pits.

Yeah, I use them and love them, just like the chasms of old. I even have a floor hatch on top of a pit in case I ever need to dump a dwarf.

Do you mean like channel a ring hole where the rock would collapse around the shape of the pit?

The real way is to carve stairs up through the SMR and from there up to the surface, then to channel them all out.

Wouldn't it be easier to just simply have a miner channel it?

You can also dig up into semi-molten rock just fine (by designating an up/down staircase accessible from below). This also works only if the tile is still unrevealed. Often (but not always) you can't get down there without encountering hidden fun stuff.

tl;dr: SMR is weird and doesn't like being fucked with from above.

Good idea, but I just tried it, building an upwards stair on the top level of hell, but they won't dig upwards when I give the order.

The wiki quote does say the SMR tile needs to be unrevealed, that may be the case.
