For the dwarves, it's called "home" though. Hell is at the top of the tower.

It would be awesome if you had a demonic fortress and could build it up to the top. See how many z-levels you can make it.

Well, there should be a demonic fortress down there somewhere, right?

I was more into (Don't Worry) If There's a Hell Below, We're All Going to Go by Curtis Mayfield, check it out if you haven't heard it. Lovely song, but it was in my head on repeat for hours while I built the fucking thing until I wanted to blow my brain out. And I hope that my stairway to hell built from adamantine is good enough.

Somebody build a demonic fortress further upwards.

All the way to the max z level, in the same style as the pregenerated ones.

I finally got Stonesense working in Linux, so I have some 3D pictures of the final version of the fortress. I've stopped now, I simply don't have the patience for anything more. All I've done since the last save is adding another magma pipe and a magma lake at the bottom of a pit just to give my greatest grave a moat. Warning: Huge images, except for the last one.

Top level (2 mb)
Workshop level (1.7 mb)
Meeting hall level (1.5 mb)
Grave chamber (132 kb)

Awwww. :( I was hoping you'd keep going for all the map.

If anyone wants to take over my save and build something truly glorious, I'd just be flattered. The latest save (in the first post) is very organized with loads of food and booze. There are no immigrants anymore, but there are plenty of defense mechanisms, anyone going down to hell must pass two long bridges and one short, two of them over a cave and one over water, all levered up and ready to go. PM me if you want more details.

I have a dwarf fortress graphical set.  Anybody know what I'd have to do to adapt this save file to play on mine?  I really really really want to go into this fortress, go down into the depths, and visit the grave of this mighty warrior at the bottom.  This is so beautiful that I just want to weep...

And a thought occurs: if you made soap out of those poison demon squirrels, wouldn't it dissolve your flesh when used?  I THINK WE HAVE OUR NEXT EXPORT TO THE ELVEN KINGDOMS, GENTLEMEN!!!

The graphic set should not effect the game data, so the save should work fine. Just unpack it in /data/save. The latest save I've uploaded doesn't have the finished grave with a moat, I can upload it if you want to.

Copy your raw/graphics folder to data/save/<region#>/raw/graphics.

Meh, I'll keep chugging along on mine, the demons are much friendlier in my world from the sounds of it. 30 FPS may be slow, but it somehow occupies my short attention span. :) New annex walled off and the hotel is almost completely furnished.

Hah, my hell fort gets about 10 FPS. I actually learned to play DF on an old computer and never got more than 40, and even now I have it capped at 50, anything more feels like it's giving me epilepsy.
