I hate garages. They're bigger than my damn palace. They ought to come in large and small varieties, or just be a chainlink-fenced paved lot with a shed in a corner.

The expansion pack reduces the size of the garage model and its footprint to something more reasonable.

That said, it is a building that is supposed to store thousands of cars and trucks and service them...

There is one single addition that makes Tropico 3 worthwhile.

Garages.

Cant agree more.

That's the main reason I want it. Does tropico 3 actually remove anything from the original? Does it make anything worse?

Well I have only played one other tropico other then 3 but I like 3 more then I do the other one (it was with pirates)

But I hate how it cheats. I had 56% happiness and needed 65%. An event giving me 10% happiness showed up so I accepted it. I waited....nothing happened. Eventually my happiness went down....I waited some more....As soon as the happiness went down to 54%, it got the 10% boost  >:(

Then I flooded the entire island with decoration and bribed EVERYONE and the happiness never increased..... Makes me not want to play it again.

Yeah, like I said, part of the "fun" of Tropico apparently is losing in different ways, to different factions, for different reasons.

If you've won the game once and have no desire to quash an uprising, or piss off the US or the Soviets, it's not really good for more than one play through.

Agreed.  I havn't done a single challenge.  All my time spent with the Tropico games were with the freeplay.

Freeplay is too easy. I get 80+ happiness, both US and USSR to love me, and bribe everyone until they all love me.

Then I make an army and take away all the houses and stuff and continuously bribe the military and have massive wars XD
Too easy to manipulate.

What happens if you piss the religion faction off to much? What do they do? Or the nationalists? The hippies? I don't see how making them mad effects your game at all.

The trick with the different factions is to remember what they want the most, can cover them. Capitalists for example love you trading in large quantities and having alot of factories to work in, while Communists like Housing and Simple Work such as farms and such in large supply. Religion loves having tons of churches and so on as you go down the track. Knowing these things can help you boost the Happiness of the city, check each faction to see who isn't happy the most, fix it and go onto the next, for it is them that are dragging down your Meter, the other thing to note is that the largest faction on the isle can be the most annoying, you need to make sure that you double any efforts to care for them and such...

I personally like the challenges presented on the online collection, my fave so far is the Illegal Booze Challenge, where you get like 400 people on the FIRST ship that lands on the isle and fills like 1/8 of the map with shanty towns, getting them work and homes is harder then you think when nearly every 2nd man goes rebel on you... Also there is a present on the 10th year if you get to it. I advise looking after the religious group of making a Major big Army...

All the factions seem to have the same number of people in them. Am I missing something?

How many teamster offices and construction sites do you guys build along the way? I can't find a way to measure it.

Make sure your looking in the right menu, can't remember it off the top of my head but you can actually sort the people by their factions to see who belongs where, also able to sort them by their happiness, finding the most unhappy person and making their day can change things too...

Teamster Offices should be like 1 every 5 input/output shops... Most of the time a Teamster will take something to a factory then take what the factory has made to the docks, sometimes not...
Construction office should be like 2 at the start, 4 after you get like 40-60 people living and 10 from then on... I find that that helps it grow faster, make sure when you build a construction office you delay all other sites so that its built first. And if you are building at a great distance from the Office, build a Garage first and foremost, so that constructors don't walk back to the office to get a new job (Which normally is to go back to the site they just walked away from)

Same number?  You either not paying attention.... or the RNG favors(?) you.

Teamster and Construction, Depends really.  How good your infrastructure is.

If I'm not making enough money, +1 Teamster.
If I want more money faster, +1 Teamster.
Hey, whats this?  I don't have enough goods?  +10 stuff production things!

Workers too slow getting to and back to work?  +1 Construction
-1 Construction as they become obsolete.
