So yeah. I'm sitting in my fortress, bored because nobody will attack me. Also, I'm playing Dwarf Fortress and my dwarves are bored for the same reason. The Goblins have tried raiding me once or twice, and I've sent out my 10 man squad and, well, they don't seem to want to play anymore. Every time the elves have come to trade, I level every tree on the map and then trade them wood. Then I kill them all. I make sure to leave the corpses at the trade depot to rot, for the next elven caravan that (for some reason) still comes. I do all of this because, well, I want them to attack me or something. Noooo, the idiots still keep coming to try and trade. Wtf? How do I get other nations to attack me? I've read about other people pissing off the elves and them coming back en masse, but am I just too lovable?

If you keep building up and developing your fortress and economy you should eventually hit one of the triggers for a megabeast to waffle and burble its way towards your fortress?

I was under the impression that high population and generated wealth have something to do with their arrival :]

Elves are a little braindead like that. It usually takes them a good 15 caravans worth of charred corpses to make them decide that sending merchents is a bad idea and sending flammable wood equipped warriors is a bloody good idea.

Humans, on the other hand, will seige you very quickly if you screw up and let their merchents die. But you probably don't want that, since humans have a habit of using lashes a lot (At least in my games, they do.)

actually in the recent versions silver lashes can shatter bone through clownite armor because of some rigidness to speed to contact area miscalculation.
