Dwarf Fortress on the iPod Touch. Runs at about 1FPS though, and needs a bluetooth keyboard connected...

Haha, that's awesome. Is it actually playable at 1FPS?

I'm sure you could get it to work on the iPad reasonably well.

Or you can get one of those Korean micro-computers I hear about occasionally.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

How did you manage? Can you run Mac apps off of the iPhone? I've tried playing it through telnet and the terminal, but it wasn't very fun.

Probs would run slightly better on the iPhone 4, what with it having better hardware and all that.

But very well done nonetheless.

Looks too good to be true, though, I've never been much of a believer.

Yeah, there's that.

I call BS; Maelstrom has posted only twice so far, both of them being in this thread. Not to mention his unwillingness to describe how he did it.

I've poked around with development for various handhelds and I'm going to stick my neck out and call "BS" on this one.

You can do this with DF term, but it isn't pretty :)  The display doesnt have enough row/col to really get at it.

If this is real then i'd be interested to know how adventure mode performs.

You should call it iDorf, or possibly iTroll...

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

DFTerm is real, and it comes pretty close. You run it on another computer instead, and the handheld functions as an input/output device.

IIRC it doesn't have support for iOS and other phones yet.

Well, there is no way in hell it will run on the iphone directly.... though there is nothing stopping you from you using something like remote desktop to play dwarf fortress that is actually running on another computer.
