Keep in mind that Telltale's Texas Hold'em is not a typical cardgame videogame. It has little to do with the game of Texas Hold'em itself.

Oh, sure, you're playing it. But you need to win by deducing the tells, quirks, and various giveaways that the characters you're playing against all have. And there's lots of ambient conversation that goes on between them while you play.

Basically, think a comparison between Punchout and something like Fight Night. In Fight Night it's all about boxing itself. But in Punchout, it's a puzzle game built around a character's personality. The boxing is there as the medium you use to solve the puzzle.

Telltale's Texas Hold'em is similar to that approach. The card game itself isn't the real puzzle, it's figuring out how to exploit the weaknesses and hands of the opponents in the game. And in this case, those opponents would just happen to be Tycho, Max, The Heavy, and Strongbad.

Basically, if you're going to make a character-centric game, you need strong characters to do so. And they went for some of the best ones out there.

I could be wrong and maybe it's an adventure game involving cards or something, but honestly I'd be pretty jazzed to play a new version of Telltale Texas Hold'em using these guys and all of the new stuff they've developed in the meantime for their engine.

So basically, the point of Telltale's Texas Hold 'em isn't playing the card game, it's playing the card game?

Doc looks a bit mummified, but otherwise, I think it'll look a lot better than them trying for realistic graphics.

Also, this new poker game is 5$/4€. And that picture few posts up is brilliant. It'll definitely be fun.
