It was depressing.

Match Five

Scabs McStingsalot (Pisano) and Kobold Fale (LordSlowpoke) versus Kilakan (Kilakan) and ACANTHOR (Acanthus117)
Managers Pisano, LordSlowpoke, Kilakan, and ACANTHOR

"I'm looking forward to this match, Olon, and I'll bet the crowd is, too!"
"Well, Urist, I've gotta say, so am I! We've got a real winner today!"
"I've gotta agree. Today we're going to answer the classic question: does size matter?"
"That's right, Urist. On the left we've got the kobold team, Scabs McStingsalot, who is deadly with his bow, and Fale, swinging a pick and clad in Bronze armor!"
"Let's see if Fale does better this time around, Olon! Because their opponents are the hulking yeti Kilakan and his massive minotaur partner ACANTHOR!"
"Let the match begin! May the best team prevail!"

As the bell rings, ACANTHOR bellows and rushes to meet Fale, who has charged across the arena towards him. He strikes again and again and is dodged repeatedly, but finally lands a crushing blow to the head, killing Fale.

Scabs has been firing arrows repeatedly since the beginning, but missed his shots. Now Kilakan and ACANTHOR bear down upon him, hammers swinging. A few blows and the match is over.

Winner: Kilakan and Acanthor

"..."
"Um. Well."
"It looks like the big guys are the team to beat in this tournament."

Not a single arrow fired.  Fale and I failed.  The flavor text said I was shooting, but the combat log didn't include any shots or any indication that I was more than a meat puppet there for the pulping.  Congrats to Kilakan and ACANTHOR.

The combat log doesn't record missed shots.  This just meant you always missed.

Bah, I was supposed to be a blocker when you were shooting arrows. I have bad luck in those tournaments, I never got past round one in all four that there were.

Good job, guys. A victory you deserved.

He actually had 32 arrows left out of 35, I believe, so he was firing fairly fast.

Match Six

Spanner (Mekboy) and Mr. Stabs (Flagarus) versus Imacutyourface (Dwarf mc Dwarf) and GannonDorf (Gannon)
Managers Mekboy, Flagarus, Dwarf mc Dwarf and GannonDorf

"Well, Olon, what have we got for the crowd today?"
"It's a real nail-biter Urist! Two teams of little guys, out to rip each other to shreds!"
"I can't wait, Olon. As a dwarf, I've got a place in my heart for the underdog."
"Well, then, you should take a look at this matchup! On the right we've got the kobolds Spanner and Mr. Stabs! Spanner's got a nasty-looking steel dagger, while Mr. Stabs has got a spear made out of the blue stuff!"
"I wonder how many miners had to die to get that spear, Olon. On the left we've got the dark gnome Gannon - look at that whip of his, that's the second hellwhip we've seen in this tourney! And the first one was pretty effective, too. His partner is a gremlin named Imacutyourface, who seems to think he's a Bronze Colossus."
"He's big at heart, Urist. Let the match begin!"

As the bell rings, Gannon lashes out at Mr. Stabs in an eerie repeat of how Urist McAxedorf began his fight against The Horned Axe. This time, however, the whip fails to be effective, and Mr. Stabs counters by thrusting Gannon in the side with his spear. Something breaks with a loud crack.

Spanner charges Imacutyourface, knocking him over. He plunges his dagger into the gremlin's chest, withdraws it, and bisects him with a single mighty blow. At the same moment, Mr. Stabs twists his spear and withdraws it from Gannon's side, stabbing him in the neck and sending his head sailing off into the distance!

Winner: Spanner and Mr. Stabs

"At least this one was a roughly fair fight, eh Olon?"
"And it looks like Spanner and Mr. Stabs are facing Kilakan and ACANTHOR in the quarter-finals! We'll see if a second kobold team can take down the giants."

Possibly. They're theoretically countered by the size advantage of the semi-megabeasts, though. We'll see what happens with Team Kobold versus Team Big Hairy Hammerf*ckers.
