Your matchup is against Mr. Stabs and Spanner... It's a superweapon fight. He has an adamantine spear, you have a slade whip.

Shield material doesn't matter, right? I at least have a leather breastplate for my organy bits, but I'm counting on Imacutyouintheface to block that spear for me while I go for a HEADSHOT.

Yeah, about that...

Can you have a leather "breast plate"? Under leather all I see is generic "armor" and clothing.

Nope. It's a flaw in the tournament system. Generally I'd just give the gladiator the closest thing (like leather mail would be a leather shirt, while a breastplate would be armor). I imagine badfuzzy did the same thing.

There aren't any "Leather Gauntlets" either, just leather gloves. Leather does, of course, provide protection, but in this contest, where everyone is either swinging a superweapon or are themselves superweapons, it will probably just be instantly punctured.

I feel sorry for the gremlin with the slade whip, poor bugger won't be able to move.

In other words, slade is so heavey, sure it makes a good whip, but a gremlin will move at a crawl using it.

Prior experience suggests otherwise; a gremlin with a slade whip took out four people in a prior exhibition match.

That's true, 'twas me, the Dark Gnome, Gannon!

If I remember correctly, I died from a Snakeman's poison bite. I won't have to face that for now.

It will be a crawl of death.

I may be able to update twice within the next few hours, breaks permitting.

Aye but gnomes are just that much stronger they can handle it while being naked, or lightly armored.

Gremlins have a speed attribute in the range of 900 on average.  Carrying a slade whip reduces their speed by 6, or about 0.7% of their total.  Not a huge debuff.

"Mr. Pokey & Dorf" is a good teamname.

Also, having done some testmatches myself, I can move with slade whip. Just because it's made from slade doesn't mean much because, you know, it's a whip. a whip doesn't weigh as much as say, a mace.

Match Three

SLEDGE!! (Human) and Hawkeyed Prick (Elf) versus Great Sword (Human) and The Pointy End (Elf)
Managers Areku, Yugi24862, LAAT501Legion, and ArthurWilborn

"So, Olon, what've we got today?"
"Well, Urist, it's the third day of the tourney, I tell you, I'm really excited for this next match!"
"Fantastic, Olon. So am I! We've got a real winner here."
"It's almost too good to be true. If you remember, Urist, the previous tournament second-placer was an archer named Pisano, and he was pretty heavily favored to win."
"That's right, Olon. And today, we've got not one, but two archers. The elf, Hawkeyed Prick, and his human teammate SLEDGE!! will go up against a human named The Great Sword and his elf partner, The Pointy End."
"We'll see how this plays out, Urist! It'll be a fight for the ages."

As soon as the match starts, the opposed elves let loose their shafts of death at the other's melee partner. Hawkeyed Prick's bronze arrow fails to penetrate Great Sword's mail, but The Pointy End's arrow strikes SLEDGE!! in the right hand! Quick to seize the advantage, Great Sword closed the distance before Hawkeyed Prick could restring his bow and fire another arrow, hacking SLEDGE!!'s leg off at the hip!

Undaunted, SLEDGE!! attempts to cave in Great Sword's head with a hammerstrike, but his cumbersome weapon is too slow and Great Sword dodges and stabs him in the head for his trouble, and begins to twist, which is exactly as painful as it sounds. To add insult to injury - or perhaps, injury to grievous bodily harm - The Pointy End strings a new arrow and looses it into SLEDGE!!'s torso, puncturing a lung. Not to be outdone, Hawkeyed Prick fires one at Great Sword, giving him breathing problems of his own! However the armor protects him from the worst of it, allowing him to quickly decapitate SLEDGE!!

Great Sword then proceeds to leap on top of Hawkeyed Prick, stab him in the mouth, and cut him in half with a stab before The Pointy End can score a solid hit.

Winner: Great Sword and The Pointy End

"An incredible match, Olon! And it was over so quick!"
"Did the Pointy End actually do anything there, Urist? That match was won when the Great Sword stepped onto the arena floor."
"Too true, Olon, but maybe we'll see some more bow-action from the Pointy End during the quarter-finals!"

Spoiler: Combat Log (click to show/hide)

Next match: The Horned Axe & Paralyzer versus Mr. Pokey and Urist mcAxedorf!

Hey Josephus, think you could put the species of each combatant in the update?  It would help give the readers a better idea of how to visualize the combat.
