I'd say use oak. If featherwood is the best wood for shields then everyone will just use featherwood and it'll be the same as it was before only with featherwood instead of oak. And oak is a way cooler wood.

It's not actually the best, it's the best for blocking, but for bashing it is horrible, where as higher density woods like oak are better for bashing.

Okay, you can have a featherwood shield, MBP. Anyone else?
I'd like my shields to be made of bloodthorn and nethercap.

I'd like my shield to be made of goblin-cap to match my character, if that's ok. I'll change my guy's application too.

This isn't burger king, you can't have your shield the way you want it.   You get oak unless the rules on the first page have been updated to allow for any-wood-you-want-on-your-shield.

Yeah, he's right, we're sticking with oak. Bloodthorn is a bit much, actually, and might give the contestants an unforseen advantage.

Exhibition Match 1

This match is brought to you by the North American Spine Society. Be upright, save your spine!
http://www.spine.org/Pages/Default.aspx

Team 1 - Mr. Stabs, Kobold (Flagrarus) and  Madjax, Goblin (Madjax)
Team 2 - Special K, Kobold (Prepaid Lenin) and OW! Bitey!, Snakeman (mrbobbyg)
Team 3 - The Smith, Minotaur (Duriel) and The Horned Axe, Minotaur (Dariush)
Team 4 - Maple Willow Aspen, Dwarf Hippy (Mysteriousbluepuppet) and Gutstabberson, son of Gutstabber, Minotaur (Howells)

Team 1 opens aggressive, Madjax bowling over Special K and ripping a gash in his torso as Mr. Stabs easily slides his spear through the breastplate of OW! Bitey!, paralyzing the snakeman with one hit. Bitey falls spasming to the floor where he will remain for the rest of the match.  The Horned Axe and Maple Willow Aspen square off in the bottom of the arena; the larger minotaur takes little damage from the silver whip but seems unable to strike the nimble hippy dwarf. Gutstabberson and The Smith, both confident in their partner, split away and join the general melee.

Madjax aims another blow at the injured kobold, but Special K manages to retaliate quickly, chopping the mad goblin cleanly in half. Mr. Stabs pokes at Special K, looking for quick revenge.  However, Stabs is clumsy with his expensive weapon, the more skilled berserker slapping the spear away as he slips inside the weapon's range and sends one hand sailing away from the weapon.  Grimly, Mr. Stabs holds on with his off-hand and turns his attention back to the crippled snakeman.  Special K, seeing a pair of minotaurs charging into the fight, leaps away to maneuver for a better position.  The small kobold is progressively weakened by the loss of blood; even though the minotaurs ignore him in favor of bashing the fallen snake, he loses grip of his spear and gives the snake a couple desultory kicks before succumbing to blood loss.

The minotaurs fail to notice the kobold sneaking around them until Special K rushes Gutstabberson, holding the axe as high as he can in a bid to decapitate.  He is not quite tall enough, but still manages to slash the pikeman's spine.  The second crippled competitor falls atop the first.  The snakeman weakly tries to pin Gutstabberson for a bite, but the minotaur just as weakly pushes Bitey away.

The Smith and Special K, the only effective fighters of the general melee, put on a stunning display of feint and dodge. Each managed to negate the other for several rounds.  Quick strikes from the kobold's axe spark off the minotaur's thick leggings, but Special K is unprotected when a blow finally takes him in the guts and knocks him sensless.  Smirking, The Smith rears back and smashes between Special K's shoulders, knocking him on the pile with the other crippled competitors.  However, a cry rings out from the other side of the arena as his teammate The Horned Axe finally takes a decisive blow to the neck that cripples him as well.

The Smith takes the time to end the suffering of the cripples before going to save his teammate.  However, Maple Willow Aspen simple giggles and dodges away, subjecting The Smith to the same slow debilitation before smashing his spine as well.  Chuckling madly, the hippy plants flowers in their open flesh to be nourished by their still living bodies.

Winner - Team 4, The Mad Druids!

Spines crushed: 62.5%

Special K THE KOBOLD BERSERKER went out the way he lived. Throwing up into the wounds of his enemies.

How many kills did I get? I cut a minotaur goblin in half, and it looks like I got Stabs on blood loss, but what about that other minotaur?
