so, i've recorded a video for you guys. and it's the first i've ever uploaded to youtube as well.

story:

over a twelve year span, using my legendary mechanic, i've collected over 150 goblin ambushers. running out of room, i decided to build a 33x33 pit, with a one-level up perimeter viewing platform. the pit has double doors (for locking everyone in), as well as the viewing platform (same for the non-military). i place every cage around the pit, and link them all to one lever. i gather my elite soldiers, 2 of each weapon user, lock them in, and set a party above. once the colony is in, i lock them in, and pull the lever.

  Awesome!!!...  Oh how I envy your ability to play 11fps Fort, I get bored at 50, which renders me unable to complete awesome megaprojects like that.

yup, still rocking on my P4 D system. i really, REALLY want a new rig, but i'm afraid about having to goof with the fps in dorf due to massive upgrade in computational powers.

that and i don't really need a new rig. still playing all new games just fine (got a toxic 5850).

every time i watch this, in my mind, the bolts go PEW PEW PEW.

also, i try not to giggle when a hammer dwarf scores a crit and a goblin flies across the room, stunning another as it gibs.

It's too bad non-cornered goblins from broken sieges won't fight. It might have been a lot more difficult if those goblins were actually aggressive.

what is this "TV Tropes' DF page" that you speak of? to be honest, ever since the new DF came out, i have been ignoring the forum a bit. i admit, i am hesitant to try it, as i do not know all the new features and whatnot. maybe i should start reading up on it, eh? anyone have any tips for the new version?

What P|D do you use? If your board supports it, I'd recommend the P|D 955 EE chip. I had one before I upgraded to a core2 quad a while back and it was fantastic. dual-core with 2MB cache per core, SSE3, 64bit, VT, HyperThreading, 3.46ghz stock clock with a 1066fsb. I ran mine at 4ghz with a 1230mhz fsb. I kinda wish I had kept it. Anyways, I scored it for $70 months ago on eBay. I really suggest finding one. It'll breath all kinds of new life into your rig

Hell, I've got an i7 and I only average 8 FPS. Of course that's with 200 dwarfs and a huge, fully developed fortress, but still, 8 FPS is 8 FPS.
