Possible computer problem?
« on: August 25, 2010, 05:57:50 pm »

So I restarted my computer, and when it started loading up it came to a black screen and written in white text was "SATA has failed".. I kept restarting and it would not load up to windows, only to this screen. I then turned off my computer for a few minutes, booted it up and now its fine. Is something wrong with my baby?

... WHAT? No don't go replacing the motherboard just right away. Just check the cables. Sata is a kind of cable and it's probably whats hooking up your hard drive. Make sure it's plugged in right before you do anything drastic. Heat could of slowly eased it out a bit.

Especially in hot weather, or weather that gets hot days and cold nights, a cable and wriggle itself out of place by the constant expand/contract thing goin' on.

If you think something is amiss when your computer doesn't work, turn it off and slap the shit out of the tower. If it fixes itself, it's likely that this happened. :P

How's that for professional computer repair?

Alternative to Percussive Maintenance:

Open up the side of your computer and check EVERY connections, and in your case, especially the ones between the hard drive(s) and motherboard.
