Well, the left leg pain has subsided for now, and that's good. Motivation is slowly, but surely returning.

I'm giggling at the 'AFL is for pussies' comments. There is no other ball sport where you can kick your opponents and even your own team repeatedly in the head and shoulders while airborne, without it being called a tackle.

Played a pickup game of AFL when I was in Australia back in 1992. Once I realized that it's basically a slightly more organized version of what we in the States called "Smear the Queer", I had a blast. Up until that point, it had sort of been like a football match where I got tackled for no obvious reason. Repeatedly and harshly.

I've had a soft spot for Geelong ever since, because they were an absolute powerhouse that year.

I've been told that if I ever play football again it will shorten the time I will get extremely painful knee arthritis.

I never even got to experience a full varsity season.  :'(.

Unfortunately, it's worse. It's a shattered kneecap, the stuff that sends Pro players packing.

Okay, yeah, sorry to hear that, bro. Hopefully you have some other hobbies that don't include running or Parkour?

Gaming, but that was kind of obvious. Reading, and that's about it.

It's funny, I really enjoyed football, but that was about the only sport I was good at. I'm too uncoordinated and slow for basketball, no endurance for cross country, I never tried wrestling(couldn't survive the training with the knee now) I never was really good at baseball... Now that I'm out of football, I'm pretty much out of sports.

You should try Tai Chi or Baguazhang. Low impact, low stress, good at improving flexibility without having to break out a yoga mat (although if you go into yoga, think of all the women in skin tight clothing in every class. ;) )

Swim a lot and/or row a lot. Or cycle. Essentially I listed the only sports I enjoy there, and then only in a non-competitive context.
